The available reporting says the jury found for Aerosonic and rejected Joby’s counterarguments. What the dispute was about
Aerosonic, an avionics supplier, provided air-data probes to Joby for testing its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The companies signed a nondisclosure agreement in September 2021. Aerosonic later alleged that Joby used proprietary probe designs and test data to develop its own air-data system. Joby disputed liability and brought counterclaims, including allegations that Aerosonic’s probes were defective.

A November 2025 order from the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida recounts the parties’ pleadings and procedural history; it is not a finding that every allegation in those pleadings was true. For example, the order describes Joby’s counterclaim allegations that two probe sleeves detached during pre-flight testing and that the probes had to be replaced. Those allegations should not be confused with findings the jury reportedly made at trial.
Is the $116.9 million a final bill?
Not on the information established by the available reporting. The reported amount is a jury verdict. The sources reviewed do not establish the precise final judgment, whether any overlapping recovery will be adjusted, or the result of post-trial motions or an appeal. Joby’s statement indicates that further proceedings are intended; it does not determine their outcome.

Accordingly, the verdict should not be described as a payment Joby has already made or as a settled obligation that can no longer change. The amount and timing of any eventual payment remain uncertain.

Joby’s Form 10-Q reported $636.1 million in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash, plus $1.634 billion in short-term marketable securities, as of June 30, 2026. Those company-reported figures total more than $2.2 billion in liquidity at that quarter-end; they are not a post-verdict balance. The reported $116.9 million verdict is smaller than that dated total, but the comparison does not establish the award’s ultimate financial effect or when any payment might be due.

The same filing reported $317.6 million of net cash used in operating activities for the six months ended June 30, 2026. That is historical cash use over a defined period, not a forecast of future spending. Liquidity is a balance at a point in time; operating cash use is a flow over a period, so the two figures answer different questions. The reported figures appear in Joby’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
