Jeff Bezos denied a report on Dec. 22, 2024, that he and Lauren Sánchez would marry in Aspen that Christmas. He called it “completely false” and said the event was not happening. The couple later married in Venice, Italy, on June 27, 2025.
What did Bezos say about the Christmas 2024 wedding report?
In a post on X on Dec. 22, 2024, Bezos rejected the report: “Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening.” Mediaite reproduced his statement, as did Entrepreneur.
Bezos also criticized outlets that repeated the story and said he would be interested to see whether they corrected it after the date passed. His statement was a direct denial of the reported Aspen wedding, not an announcement of a different date or venue.
What did the Aspen report claim?
The Daily Mail report, as summarized by Entrepreneur on Dec. 23, 2024, said Bezos and Sánchez would marry in Aspen around Dec. 28 and put the cost at $600 million. Entrepreneur described the report as based on unnamed sources. Those details were reported claims, not independently confirmed plans or a verified wedding budget.

Because Bezos denied that the event was happening, the reported $600 million figure should not be treated as an actual cost. The available reporting does not establish a price for an Aspen wedding.
Did Bezos and Sánchez marry later?
Yes. The couple married in Venice, Italy, on June 27, 2025. The Associated Press reported that Sánchez posted a wedding photo that evening: AP’s report on the ceremony.

That wedding was a separate, later event—not confirmation of the denied Aspen story. AP reported the Venice celebrations lasted three days and that some wedding provisions came from Venetian vendors.

In March 2025, Venice said 200 guests would be invited and described the event as manageable without disruption. AP also reported that the city disputed speculation about extensive hotel and water-taxi bookings. The city was addressing claims about the later Venice wedding, not the December 2024 Aspen report. AP reported the city’s statement.

In that statement, the city said: “The many speculations and fake news circulating about Jeff Bezos’ wedding are completely unfounded.” This was Venice’s response to speculation about the planned event in March 2025; it was distinct from Bezos’s Dec. 22, 2024 denial of the Aspen wedding report.
