Island, an enterprise software company that makes a browser for business use, announced a $250 million Series E on March 26, 2025. The company said Coatue Management led the round and that the financing valued Island at $4.8 billion. The Series E is no longer its latest funding: Island announced a $400 million Series F at a $6.4 billion valuation on September 24, 2026.

What Island’s $250 million Series E involved

Island announced the Series E on March 26, 2025. In its announcement, the company said Coatue Management led the round, existing investors also participated, and the financing brought its total outside investment to approximately $730 million. Island did not identify every participant in its release.

TechCrunch reported that Insight Partners, Sequoia, and Canapi Ventures participated, among others, but that list should not be treated as exhaustive. TechCrunch put the valuation at $4.85 billion; Island’s own figure was $4.8 billion. The difference is a rounding discrepancy in reporting on the same round, not evidence of two separate valuations.

What Island’s enterprise browser does

Island describes its product as a Chromium-based browser that integrates enterprise security, IT, data, access, and productivity controls into the browsing experience. Its Series E announcement named secure access to SaaS and web applications, zero-trust network access, bring-your-own-device (BYOD) use, contractor onboarding, mergers and acquisitions transitions, and reduced reliance on virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) as use cases.

How Island has changed since the Series E

The Series E announcement said Island had approximately 500 employees and 450 customers in March 2025. Island also said its annual recurring revenue had more than doubled each year since it emerged from stealth in February 2022. Those are company-reported figures, not audited financial disclosures.

Island said the round valued it at $6.4 billion. Its later announcement reported 1,000 employees and said annual recurring revenue had doubled each fiscal year since its 2022 launch; these, too, are company-reported metrics. The 2026 release also described Island as an “agentic control plane for enterprises,” extending its browser foundation across endpoints, networks, applications, and data, with governance for people and AI agents. That is Island’s framing of its expanded position.

What the valuation does—and does not—tell you

A private-company valuation reported with a funding round is not a public stock price or a figure at which ordinary readers can necessarily buy or sell shares. Island’s $4.8 billion figure describes the valuation it reported for the 2025 financing; the $6.4 billion figure is the company’s reported valuation for its later 2026 round. Neither figure, by itself, establishes profitability, revenue, or what an individual investment would be worth.
