Yes. Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour became the highest-grossing concert film. AMC announced on January 7, 2024, that the movie had earned more than $261.6 million worldwide, surpassing Michael Jackson’s This Is It, which AMC cited at $261.2 million. The exact record figure depends on the source and its snapshot date, so the category and date matter when comparing totals.
What record did the movie set?
AMC’s January 7, 2024 announcement called the film the highest-grossing title among concert films and documentaries, reporting a worldwide gross of more than $261.6 million. AMC said that total passed Michael Jackson’s This Is It, whose worldwide gross it put at $261.2 million. Read AMC’s announcement.
Guinness World Records uses a more specific category name: “Highest-grossing concert or performance film at the global box office.” Its record entry reports $246,365,022 as of November 23, 2023, citing The Numbers. Guinness says the film passed earlier concert or performance-film grosses on October 20, 2023. See the Guinness World Records entry.
These totals are different dated snapshots, not figures to combine or treat as interchangeable. AMC’s announcement came later and covers concert films and documentaries; Guinness identifies its category as concert or performance films and gives a specific as-of date. Guinness also notes that record changes may not appear online immediately.

The figures describe theatrical box-office performance, not the movie’s profit or Taylor Swift’s personal earnings. A gross does not show how much was retained after cinemas, distributors, production costs, and other expenses.
Why do sources report different totals?
The record depends on the category and the date used. AMC’s statement groups concert films with documentaries and reports its total in January 2024. Guinness’s entry names concert or performance films and gives a November 23, 2023 snapshot. The totals therefore reflect different reporting dates and category descriptions; use each with its stated source and qualification rather than presenting one as a universal, timeless number.
