TallyPrime prints the document with the title QUOTATION. You can preview it before printing.
Enter the quotation as a Sales Order
- Open Alt+G (Go To) > Create Voucher > F10 (Other Vouchers) > Sales Order. Another route is Gateway of Tally > Vouchers > F10 (Other Vouchers) > Sales Order. If Sales Order is inactive, TallyPrime may prompt you to activate it.
- Enter the party and the products or services you are offering. Add quantities, due dates where relevant, and rates. A rate may fill automatically if the item was sold previously; you can also enter it manually. Include additional ledgers, such as transport, insurance, or discount, when they apply.
- Press Ctrl+L (Optional), then save the voucher.
TallyHelp describes the action this way: “If you want to generate a quotation in TallyPrime, mark the sales order as optional and print it.” (TallyHelp, “How to Record Sales Order in TallyPrime,” updated April 27, 2026.)

Understand what the optional Sales Order means
This workflow creates a quotation, not a record of a completed sale. A Sales Order captures the products or services, quantities, and proposed or agreed price information; it can later be tracked through delivery notes or sales invoices. TallyHelp documents Sales vouchers and invoices as separate steps, including sales recorded against a Sales Order (Sales Order guide; “How to Record Sale of Goods and Services Under GST,” updated May 21, 2026).
Do you need price lists or GST setup first?
Price lists
TallyPrime has standard selling-price and price-list facilities that can help select or populate prices during voucher entry. The documentation does not identify them as prerequisites for printing an optional Sales Order as a quotation (TallyHelp, “How to Manage Buying and Selling Prices in TallyPrime”).
#1 Best Overall
GST configuration
GST setup matters when recording a GST sales voucher or invoice. TallyHelp lists company GST details, party masters, sales-ledger applicability, item or service tax details, and tax ledgers among the relevant setup requirements. Its quotation instructions do not say this setup is required simply to print an optional Sales Order as a quotation (TallyHelp, “How to Record Sale of Goods and Services Under GST,” updated May 21, 2026).
