In the United States, Yahoo Local directs business owners to claim or add a profile through The Real Yellow Pages. Yahoo Local advertises the claim route as free. Start by checking whether your business already has a listing, then follow the matching flow on Yahoo Local’s official claim page.
How to claim or add a U.S. business listing
- Open Yahoo Local’s claim page. The page says Yahoo Local is working with The Real Yellow Pages, where the profile and account actions take place. This is a provider handoff, not an entirely Yahoo-operated dashboard. Go to the official claim page.
- Search for your business first. If you find an existing profile, use the existing-listing flow rather than creating a duplicate.
- For an existing listing, log in to The Real Yellow Pages. Update the profile there and publish your changes, following the prompts on the claim page.
- For a new listing, update the business profile and create a Real Yellow Pages account. The page says you must verify your identity as part of this flow.
What “free” covers—and what it does not promise
Yahoo Local advertises a free profile-claim route. The page does not establish that optional directory services or upgrades are free, so check any terms or charges shown before selecting extras.
Claiming or submitting a profile is not a promise that every edit will appear on every Yahoo surface, that the listing will be published in a particular place, or that it will improve search ranking. The U.S. claim page does not state a specific approval time.
Yahoo’s U.S. and Japan routes are different
Yahoo! JAPAN operates a separate service, Yahoo!プレイス. It is not the U.S. Yahoo Local/Real Yellow Pages workflow, and the two processes should not be treated as interchangeable.
