The GATE 2024 admit card was made available for download on January 4, 2024—not today. The brochure had originally scheduled it for January 3, but the official notifications page posted January 4 as the availability date. This is a historical announcement for the completed 2024 exam cycle.
When was the GATE 2024 admit card released?
The GATE 2024 notifications page listed the admit card as available through GOAPS from January 4, 2024 (official notifications). The information brochure had scheduled availability for January 3, 2024, so the official posted availability date was one day later (GATE 2024 Information Brochure).
GATE 2024 was organized by IISc Bengaluru with participating IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The examination assesses understanding in undergraduate-level engineering, technology, science, architecture and humanities subjects (GATE 2024 official website).
Where candidates could download it
The official route was the GATE 2024 website’s GOAPS portal. The admit card was not sent by post or as an email attachment, according to the official GATE 2024 FAQs. This describes the 2024 process; it does not establish whether old candidate accounts or files remain accessible now.

What candidates needed for ordinary exam-centre entry
- A printed hard copy of the admit card. The FAQ said a copy shown on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop was not sufficient for ordinary entry; a colour print was preferred.
- The original, valid photo ID specified in the application. Photocopies, scanned copies and expired identification were not accepted.
The FAQ’s guidance was specific: “Hard copy (preferably printed in colour) of the Admit Card is required to gain entry to the examination centre.” It also stated that admit cards would not be sent by post or email attachment.
Haldwani mobile-admit-card exception
In February 2024, the official site published updates for affected candidates at the Haldwani centre. Those candidates could use a printed old admit card or show the new admit card on a mobile device (GATE 2024 Haldwani updates). This was a limited arrangement for specified candidates and dates, not a general replacement for the printed-card requirement.

GATE 2024 exam dates
The brochure scheduled the examination for February 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2024, with forenoon and afternoon sessions. It also noted that dates could change. These dates refer to the 2024 cycle, which has concluded.
