Start with the exact title and the right country
Search the show or movie by its exact name in a guide that gathers streaming offers, or in a discovery feature on a device or app you already use. Search results can vary by country, so make sure the guide or app is set to the market where you plan to watch. JustWatch, for example, provides country-specific guides; its U.S. guide applies specifically to the United States (JustWatch U.S.).

If a title has a common name or multiple versions, check that the result matches the intended release or series. Before relying on a result, look for the country setting and the viewing option attached to the listing. Google says discovery can depend on country, location, language, device, and the services selected in the app, so a result on one setup may not match another.
Choose a search method

For a straightforward personal search, start with a country-specific guide or your device’s discovery app. JustWatch describes its guide and offer categories on its about page, and explains provider filtering in its filtering instructions. Google explains how to find and watch a title in Google TV; Apple outlines its title-page partner listings in its Apple TV app guide.

Read the offer before you decide
A search result does not always mean the title is included in a subscription you already pay for. Check the offer label and destination service. Common possibilities include:
- Included with a subscription: You may need an active plan with that service. Google notes that you may be asked to sign in or sign up to watch.
- Free or ad-supported: The listing may indicate that the title can be watched without a paid title purchase, sometimes with advertising.
- Rental: You pay for temporary access under the destination service’s terms. Check the rental price and conditions there.
- Purchase: The service offers a paid purchase rather than subscription viewing. Confirm the price and what the service means by purchase before completing the transaction.
Guides can group these options, but the destination service sets the actual terms and price. Follow the listing through and verify the offer on the service’s own title page before paying, renting, or starting a subscription.

Use Google TV to search and open a title
- Add the services you use, where supported. In Google TV, select the streaming services you want included in discovery. Google’s instructions for finding and watching content describe this service-selection step.
- Search for the exact title. Review the result and make sure it is the right show or movie.
- Select a listed app and tap “Watch.” Google TV can hand off to the streaming app shown for that offer.
- Confirm access in the destination app. Sign in if you already have access, or review any sign-up, rental, or purchase prompt before proceeding.
Google’s discovery results depend on supported services and can also be affected by country, location, language, device, and which services you selected. If an expected provider or title is missing, check those settings and try a country-specific availability guide. Removing a service from Google TV does not cancel a subscription; Google explains the distinction in its guide to ways to watch.
Verify availability before spending money
Treat any availability index as a starting point. Open the listed provider and check the title page for your location, the exact offer type, and any price or subscription requirement. This extra check matters because provider support, market, and selected services can affect what a discovery tool displays. If the offer does not match the listing, rely on the destination service’s current terms rather than assuming access is included.

- Confirm the country setting matches where you will watch.
- Check that the title and version are correct.
- Identify whether the offer is subscription, free/ad-supported, rental, or purchase.
- Review the destination service’s current price and access terms before committing.
- If you expected an existing subscription to cover it, make sure you are signed in to the correct account and plan.
When a title does not appear
First verify the country and spelling, then check whether the discovery app includes the provider you want. In Google TV, selected services and supported-service coverage affect discovery; in an availability guide, country-specific listings matter. Try another search method, such as a country-specific guide alongside the app you intend to watch in. If no current listing appears, the available information does not establish that the title is offered in your market; check the provider directly rather than assuming it is available elsewhere on the same terms.
No special hardware is required just to look up availability. Online guides and app or device discovery features are sufficient; the key is to verify the result in the market where you plan to watch.
