Use its provider, technology, and advertised-speed results to make a shortlist, then contact each provider to confirm service and compare current prices and terms. A map listing is not a guarantee of service or real-world speed.
Find providers that report service at your address
- Open the FCC National Broadband Map and enter your full street address. If it does not appear, try searching by location or by town and state, then select the correct point on the map. The FCC’s map guide explains address and location searches.
- Select the location to see providers reporting service there, the fixed connection technology, and each provider’s maximum advertised download and upload speeds.
- Use the fixed broadband filters to check for fiber, cable, DSL, satellite, and fixed wireless. Treat the results as a shortlist, not a final confirmation.
The map is location-specific: a provider shown for a city or ZIP code may not serve a particular house, apartment, or unit. The FCC says providers report fixed-service availability by location twice a year, and map information can also change through verification, provider updates, location-data updates, and public information. See What’s on the National Broadband Map.
Confirm availability and the full cost directly
Contact each provider on your shortlist and ask whether it can install service at your exact address and unit. Before choosing a plan, check the current offer and its full terms, including:
- Monthly price after any introductory promotion, how long the promotion lasts, and any fees.
- Download and upload tiers currently offered at your address.
- Equipment, installation, and activation charges.
- Data limits, if any, and contract or cancellation conditions.
- Whether the connection’s reliability and latency suit your household’s work, gaming, video calls, and other uses.
The FCC map displays provider-reported maximum advertised speeds; those figures describe service offered for purchase, not the speed a subscriber is guaranteed to receive. The FCC states: “The National Broadband Map shows internet availability, not network performance, affordability, or adoption.” See the FCC’s availability challenge guide.

Compare the alternatives to Spectrum that are actually available
There is no reliable nationwide answer to which provider is the best Spectrum alternative: service depends on the exact address, and no address was provided here. Compare only providers that confirm they can serve your location. Start with connection type, then weigh the current speed tiers and total cost against your household’s needs.
| What to compare | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Availability | Service at the exact street address, building, and unit—not just the city or ZIP code. |
| Connection type | Whether the offer is fiber, cable, DSL, fixed wireless, or satellite. |
| Speed | Current download and upload tiers the provider will sell at your address. Treat map speeds as advertised maximums, not a performance guarantee. |
| Total cost | Recurring price, introductory price and duration, fees, equipment, and installation. |
| Terms and fit | Data limits, contract conditions, and whether reliability and latency meet your needs. |
The FCC reported that approximately 96% of broadband serviceable locations had at least one provider reporting terrestrial fixed broadband service of at least 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. That national statistic uses availability data as of June 2025 and does not identify a provider for any particular address. Source: the FCC’s 2026 Number of Providers by Location fact sheet.
Rank #2
- Compatible with major cable internet providers including Xfinity and Cox. NOT compatible with Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH and any bundled voice service. Best for cable provider plans up to 800Mbps.
Challenge an inaccurate map listing
If a provider listed for your location says it cannot serve you—or the listed technology or maximum advertised speed appears inaccurate—you can submit an availability challenge through the FCC map. Keep a record of the provider’s response and include supporting information. The FCC sends a fixed availability challenge to the provider for a response; unresolved disputes may be decided by the FCC. Use the FCC challenge guide for the process.
An availability challenge is not a way to report slow service when the provider does serve your location. For actual-speed problems, the FCC directs consumers to its complaint process instead.
