Burger King’s “free” Wednesday’s Whopper deal was a one-day buy-one-get-one offer on October 17, 2024—not a free burger with no purchase. Royal Perks members had to buy one Whopper at regular price to get a second free, and the offer has expired.
How the full-moon Whopper deal worked
The promotion applied on October 17, 2024, at participating U.S. Burger King restaurants. To redeem it, customers needed a Royal Perks account and had to order through the Burger King app or website for order-ahead or dine-in. The reported terms limited redemption to once per account and barred combining the deal with other offers. It was not available in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories, or during breakfast hours. Local prices and participation varied, and restaurants did not guarantee the purple bun would be available. USA Today reported the offer terms.
The “full moon” wording described the date of the deal; it did not mean Burger King was giving away Whoppers without a qualifying purchase. Because October 17, 2024 has passed, this is no longer an active offer.
What was in Wednesday’s Whopper?
Wednesday’s Whopper was a Whopper with Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions on a purple-potato bun. Contemporary coverage also described black sesame seeds on the bun. The purple color made the burger part of Burger King’s Addams Family Halloween tie-in. Nation’s Restaurant News covered the menu and bun.

What to know before looking for a similar deal
This was a dated restaurant promotion, not a standing Royal Perks benefit. For any future Burger King offer, check the terms shown in the app or website before ordering: participating location, eligible ordering method, required purchase, redemption limit, time restrictions, and whether a featured item is actually in stock. A themed menu item or past promotion does not establish that the same deal is available today.
