To track an online price, save the exact product listing in a tracker that supports its retailer and your country, then set a price threshold and turn on alerts if those options are available. For Amazon listings, Keepa and CamelCamelCamel offer price watches; Google Chrome’s Shopping Insights and price tracking can cover some other product pages in supported regions. When an alert arrives, check the exact variant, seller, shipping and checkout total before deciding whether the drop is a real deal.
Choose a tracker that covers the listing
Price trackers do not monitor every retailer in the same way. Choose based on where the item is sold, what price history is available, whether you can set a target, which alert channels are supported, and whether shipping is included in the tracked price.

Set up a useful price alert
- Open the exact product listing. Choose the intended size, color, storage capacity or other variant. If multiple sellers appear, note which seller’s offer you want to monitor. Google says Shopping Insights can distinguish products with alternatives such as colors and storage capacities.
- Confirm the tracker supports the listing and your country. For Chrome tracking, check Google’s country, account, sync and browsing-setting requirements. For Keepa, check whether the relevant Amazon marketplace is among its listed locales.
- Save or track the product. Chrome’s Android instructions use the product page and a tracked-products list; on desktop, Google directs users to the Shopping list. For CamelCamelCamel, copy the Amazon product URL, paste it into the service, choose the relevant price type and start the watch.
- Set a target and enable alerts where available. Keepa documents target-price alerts. Chrome provides mobile and email notification controls, while CamelCamelCamel describes email alerts. Choose a channel you will actually notice.
- Review the offer when an alert arrives. Reopen the live listing and check the product variant, seller, stock, delivery cost and checkout price. A tracker’s recorded price is a signal to review the offer, not a guarantee that the same seller or terms are still available.
How to tell whether a drop is a good deal
Use the price-history chart or range to compare the alert price with the product’s past prices, rather than relying on a “sale” label or a claimed discount from a list price. Chrome Shopping Insights and Keepa both document price-history features. Compare like with like: the same variant and, where possible, the same kind of seller and offer. A lower product price can be offset by shipping, a different seller, or a changed delivery option.
- Confirm the alert is for the exact model and variant you intended to buy.
- Check who is selling the item and whether it is in stock.
- Add delivery costs and review the final checkout total; CamelCamelCamel’s tracked price excludes shipping and handling.
- Use history as context, not a promise that the price will remain available or fall further.
Keep alerts practical
Pick a threshold that would genuinely make you consider buying, rather than alerting on every small fluctuation. If the service does not support a target, use its available notification controls and check the history when an alert comes in. Because tracker coverage and features vary, it can be more useful to choose one tool for the retailer you actually use than to assume a single service can watch every store.
