To check a GSTAT matter, open the official GSTAT website and select Case Status, or go directly to the GSTAT e-Filing Portal. Use the live form’s requested identifier to find the case, then check the Cause List for scheduled hearings and the Display Board for hearings underway. These services answer different questions, so a case’s status alone does not confirm its next hearing date.
Choose the GSTAT service that answers your question
| Service | What it tells you | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Case Status | The matter’s progress or current stage, from filing toward disposal, as described by GSTAT. | To see where the case stands procedurally. |
| Cause List | The schedule of cases to be heard. The e-filing portal describes its cause list as including a warned list of cases about to be listed. | To check whether a case has a scheduled listing. |
| Display Board | Real-time information about hearings in progress in court rooms. | To follow hearing activity on the hearing day; it is not a substitute for the published schedule. |
| Orders/Judgement | Orders and judgments available through the GSTAT services. | To look for a case document after a matter has been heard. |
You can access these services through the GSTAT website and its e-filing portal.

How to look up a GSTAT case
- Open the official GSTAT website and choose Case Status, or open the e-filing portal directly. Check that you are on an official GSTAT government domain before entering case details.
- Enter the identifier requested by the current search form. The e-filing home page provides an ARN/CRN entry point for file-your-case lookup, while the e-Filing User Manual documents a case-list search by filing number. Do not assume these identifiers work interchangeably in every search function.
- Open the matching case record and review its displayed status, stage and any available documents or orders. GSTAT provides a separate Orders/Judgement service, so check there as well when looking for a decision.
How to find a hearing date or live hearing update
For a scheduled hearing
Open Cause List on the official portal and look for the case in the published list. The Cause List is the appropriate place to confirm a scheduled listing; a case-status entry is not a substitute for it.
For proceedings happening now
Use the Display Board to see real-time information about hearings in progress in court rooms. Since it reflects current activity, use the Cause List when you need the published schedule rather than live courtroom progress.
#1 Best Overall
For listing notifications
GSTAT’s FAQ and advisory page says parties registered on the e-filing portal, or users with valid credentials, receive an SMS or email with the listing date after cause lists are finalized. Treat a notification as a prompt and verify the listing on the official Cause List.
What to do if the case is missing or the portal has a problem
First check that you used the identifier requested by that particular search form. If the matter still does not appear, or a service is malfunctioning, visit the official GSTAT Help Center and use Report an Issue. The e-filing portal currently displays the toll-free support number 1800-103-4782; confirm it on the portal before calling because contact details can change.

Check the hearing format and timing carefully
GSTAT says hearings may be physical or electronic, but an electronic hearing requires permission from a GSTAT Member. Do not assume a listed matter can be attended online: check the case-specific direction or contact the Tribunal through its official help route.

The GSTAT Procedure Rules, 2025 state that cases are called in the serial order of the Cause List, subject to Bench orders. They also assign Registry officers responsibility for prompt communication of Bench directions or orders. These rules do not establish the exact call time for an individual matter or guarantee when a digital status entry will update.
Rank #3
Do not confuse a filing advisory with case-status guidance
The e-filing portal describes a filing-scope advisory concerning specified APL-1/APL-3 appeals or RVN-1 notices dated from 1 January 2017 through 31 January 2022. That advisory is limited to its stated filing scope; it is not a general rule for checking the status of every GSTAT case. Consult the current official advisory if it applies to a filing you intend to make.
