Sign in to the official GST Portal and open the area for the proceeding you need to check. Notices and orders do not all appear in one universal inbox: additional notices, refund show-cause matters and demand-order appeals use different portal routes. The steps below help you find the relevant record and identify whether a hearing, adjournment, reply or appeal outcome is shown.

Choose the route for the proceeding
Use the case type and document named in the notice or order to decide where to look. GSTN’s published instructions describe distinct routes for additional notices and orders, refund cases, and demand-order appeals; these are specific workflows, not interchangeable menus.
| What you are checking | Portal route documented by GSTN | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Additional officer-issued notice or order | Services > User Services > View Additional Notices/Orders | Open the relevant notice or order in the additional notices/orders area. GSTN says communications covered by this functionality are also sent by SMS and email and made available on the taxpayer dashboard. GSTN functionality note |
| Demand-order appeal and its status | Services > User Services > My Applications; select the appeal application type, set a date range, then search | Review the application status for hearing, adjournment or appeal-order updates. GSTN appeal FAQ |
| Refund show-cause notice GST RFD-08 | Services > User Services > My Applications > Case Detail > Notice/Acknowledgement | Open the case’s notice/acknowledgement area and check the available reply or hearing actions. GSTN RFD-08 guidance |
| Summons notice and adjournment request | Services > User Services > View Additional Notices and Orders > Notices folder > Reply for Notice to Summon | This is a specific enforcement workflow described in GSTN material; do not assume other notice types use it. GSTN summons functionality material |
Check a demand-order appeal for hearing updates
-
Go to Services > User Services > My Applications.
-
Choose the demand-order appeal application type and enter a date range that covers when you filed or expect the application to appear.
-
Search and open the relevant application to review its status. GSTN’s appeal FAQ lists status labels including Hearing Notice Issued, Adjournment Granted and Appeal Order Passed.
These labels indicate recorded stages or outcomes in the appeal application. If the case is not found, check the application type and date range, then confirm the details against your filing acknowledgement and the notice or order you received.

For the documented GST RFD-08 refund show-cause workflow, open Services > User Services > My Applications, select the case, then go to Case Detail > Notice/Acknowledgement. GSTN’s guidance describes options to request an extension of the reply due date or an adjournment after a hearing date has been fixed. The options available depend on the particular case and the live portal.

Check whether an order is on the portal or was issued manually
Do not assume that an order is invalid or nonexistent just because it is not selectable from a portal list. GSTN’s SPL-02 guide distinguishes portal-issued demand orders, which can be selected in the form, from offline orders absent from the portal, which must be entered manually when completing that form. Read the order itself and follow the instructions for the applicable filing or proceeding. GSTN SPL-02 guide

Use the menu for the specific case type rather than relying on one notices inbox; a refund case or appeal may be under My Applications, while additional officer-issued communications may be in View Additional Notices/Orders.

For an appeal, check the application type and widen or correct the date range used in the search.
-
Check the actual notice or order and your registered email and mobile for communications. For the additional-notices functionality described by GSTN, SMS and email accompany portal availability; the notice/order in the portal remains important for verifying the case details.
-
If the portal record is missing, consider whether the order was issued offline and consult the relevant form instructions. A missing selectable order alone does not establish that no order was issued.
When to get case-specific help
Portal instructions explain where to view records and which actions a workflow may offer, but they do not determine what a notice means for your tax position or whether a response or appeal is appropriate. If deadlines, disputed demands or filing choices are unclear, consider help from a qualified tax professional and use the notice’s own instructions and dates when deciding what to do.

Keep in mind that portal options can vary
The cited GSTN guides document particular workflows and interface labels; they are not a guarantee that every live portal screen remains unchanged or that every taxpayer will see the same actions. Follow the directions attached to the specific notice or order and verify available options in the current portal.
