Which version should you buy?
The main decision is whether you own the base game. Bandai Namco announced the expansion as a standalone product and also offered a Shadow of the Erdtree Edition bundle with the base game and expansion. Compare the contents, not just the product name.

How to compare prices without comparing unlike products
- Identify where you own the base game. A console license and a PC Steam license are not interchangeable. Start with the account and storefront you use to play.
- Match the platform and edition. The publisher listed PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Verify compatibility on the specific product listing before buying; a deal for another platform does not meet the same need.
- Check what the price includes. Confirm whether the item is the expansion alone or the base game plus expansion. For a new player, compare the bundle’s total with separate purchases of both games.
- Compare the same region and format. A physical console bundle and a Steam digital listing are different offers. Check the currency, format, included content, and any tax before treating one as cheaper.
- Check the live listing before checkout. Prices, stock, and promotions can change. The Bandai Namco US store catalog is one place to check product listings, but its current catalog does not establish availability or pricing at other retailers or in other regions.

What to know about physical editions
For the launch-era physical bundle, Bandai Namco described a base-game disc and a digital download for the expansion. The DLC should not be assumed to be on the disc. The publisher’s February 22, 2024 announcement also described physical versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Check the retailer’s current listing for the exact contents and availability before ordering.

Store availability and prices depend on region and can change, so use the storefront for the platform where you intend to play.
A Collector’s Edition or other franchise merchandise is a collectible purchase, not a substitute for the expansion itself. If your goal is simply to play the DLC, verify that a listing explicitly includes the expansion and matches your platform.
