Nissan has made that direction explicit, while Infiniti has outlined additional future models. Those are company plans and early progress signals—not proof yet of a sustained gain in U.S. sales or market share.
What is Nissan’s strategy for Infiniti in the United States?
Nissan’s FY2024 investor presentation says its U.S. focus will be crossovers and SUVs, with plans for more hybrids and to “reinvigorate INFINITI’s market presence.” It also says the company will prioritize products and markets so models and price points match demand. Nissan’s investor presentation is the clearest parent-company statement of the aim.
The approach is part of a broader North American product and retail plan, rather than a promise that one new model will solve Infiniti’s challenges. In March 2025, Nissan said the United States and Canada would receive more than 10 new and refreshed products across key segments from FY2025 through FY2027, including Infiniti models. The powertrain mix it described includes hybrids, plug-in hybrids, next-generation electric vehicles and advanced internal-combustion engines. Nissan also cited stronger retail partnerships, simpler programs and operations, and tailoring the market approach to regional customer needs. Nissan’s North American announcement describes the plan, but does not assign every product a model name or launch date.
Why emphasize SUVs and hybrids?
The disclosed product direction favors the categories Nissan says it will prioritize in the U.S.: crossovers and SUVs, with more hybrid offerings. It is not a commitment to an all-electric pivot. Nissan’s broader North American plan includes multiple powertrains, while Infiniti’s announced future portfolio includes hybrid SUVs alongside a performance-oriented sedan.

This combination gives Infiniti a path to broaden its lineup without abandoning its SUV emphasis. It also means the strength of the strategy will depend on details not yet specified for every future vehicle: timing, pricing, equipment and powertrain availability. Those details matter to shoppers comparing total ownership costs, not just the number of models announced.
Which Infiniti models are on sale, and what is planned?
The current Infiniti USA site presents the QX80, QX60, QX55 and QX50, and highlights the 2026 QX60 as a three-row crossover. The lineup page is the place to confirm what is currently offered; model availability and specifications can change. Infiniti USA’s site also promotes retailer and ownership services.

Infiniti’s future-vision page describes a planned portfolio beyond the QX65. It names a midsize hybrid SUV, a performance-oriented V6 sedan and two large hybrid SUVs. The company does not provide final launch dates, prices or complete specifications for those vehicles on that page, so they should be treated as plans rather than vehicles confirmed for sale. Infiniti’s vision page also lists manufacturer specifications for the 2026 QX80: a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
What progress has Infiniti reported so far?
In its FY2026 first-quarter presentation, Nissan said the QX65 was on sale and bringing new buyers into Infiniti showrooms. It also reported that the QX80 achieved its best first-quarter sales performance in the model’s history. These are Nissan’s descriptions of progress, not independently verified sales totals. Nissan’s FY2026 first-quarter presentation also reported more than 9% year-over-year growth in Nissan U.S. retail sales for the quarter; that figure is for Nissan overall and should not be read as Infiniti’s growth rate.

The company’s statements indicate that new products are reaching the market and that one model recorded a strong quarter by its own historical comparison. They do not establish that Infiniti has gained market share or improved its position against other luxury brands. The official materials cited here do not provide a complete Infiniti U.S. sales series or a market-share comparison.
How do retail and ownership changes fit the plan?
Nissan’s regional strategy includes strengthening retailer partnerships and simplifying programs and operations, while Infiniti’s current U.S. site foregrounds the retailer and ownership experience. The site advertises Premium Care maintenance coverage for up to 36 months or the vehicle’s designated mileage period, whichever comes first. Shoppers should confirm the terms that apply to a specific vehicle and purchase with an Infiniti retailer, because coverage and program details can vary.

These measures address more than the vehicles themselves: retailer access and the ownership experience affect how a shopper evaluates a luxury brand. But company descriptions of investment and service are not evidence, on their own, that customer satisfaction or retention has improved.
