There is no verified, current universal price for replacing a Toyota EV’s high-voltage traction battery. Toyota directs owners to a dealer or authorized service center for a vehicle-specific estimate, and warranty coverage may apply before you face the full bill. The only public figure found in Toyota Australia’s FAQ search extract—AUD 8,000 for one module or about AUD 30,000 for all modules, both before labor—is not shown on the accessible FAQ page, so it should not be treated as a confirmed current quote.
What the replacement figures do—and don’t—tell you
“Toyota EV battery” here means the high-voltage traction battery that powers the vehicle, not its separate 12-volt auxiliary battery. A module price is not the same as a complete-pack price, and a parts-only estimate is not a final installed cost.

Do not convert the Australian figures into a US estimate or assume they apply to a US-market bZ4X. The available official US material does not give a universal replacement price. Check warranty coverage before budgeting for a replacement
In the United States, Toyota says EV drive components, including the traction battery, are covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty, whichever comes first. The stated capacity protection addresses the traction battery falling below 70% of its original capacity. This is Toyota’s published coverage language, not a guarantee of approval for every vehicle or condition: the applicable warranty guide, in-service date, mileage, diagnostic result, exclusions, and Toyota’s claim determination matter. Toyota Australia’s bZ4X capacity coverage is up to 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first, for capacity below 70%, subject to required health checks and owner-manual requirements. Toyota Japan describes free repair for BEV battery faults up to 10 years or 200,000 km and free replacement if charge capacity falls below 70%; its page also warns that terms vary by vehicle. A range estimate on the dashboard is not, by itself, a battery-capacity diagnosis. Toyota Australia notes that estimated driving range can be affected by factors other than battery capacity. How to get a useful, comparable quote
- Identify the exact vehicle. Give the dealer the model, model year, country of sale, and vehicle identification number. Warranty terms and service-part pricing depend on the specific vehicle and market.
- Ask for diagnosis and warranty review first. Request confirmation of the battery-health finding, applicable capacity threshold, warranty eligibility, and whether Toyota has approved a claim. Do not assume a displayed range loss proves the pack needs replacement.
- Request an itemized written estimate. Have the quote distinguish a whole-pack replacement from a module repair, parts from labor, and any diagnostic or related charges. If the dealer offers a reconditioned or remanufactured part, ask that it be identified along with the warranty on the repair.
- Compare like with like. Check that any second estimate covers the same country and currency, repair scope, labor, part condition, and warranty status.
