Who can apply to sell on TikTok Shop?
TikTok’s U.S. individual-seller guide says applicants must be at least 18, reside in the United States, and use an email address and phone number not already used to open another shop. The guide lists a U.S. passport or passport card, driver’s license, state ID, or permanent resident card as accepted identity documents. It also identifies politicians as prohibited sellers. Check the current TikTok Shop Seller Center application flow for the rules that apply when you sign up.

TikTok distinguishes individual sellers, sole proprietors, corporations, and partnerships. Select the category that accurately reflects your legal and tax setup. Its U.S. business-type guidance says that the selected type cannot be changed after registration.
Can you apply without a large TikTok following?
Yes. TikTok’s U.S. business FAQ says merchants do not need a minimum follower count to join TikTok Shop. Linking an Official TikTok Account is a later, optional setup step, not a follower threshold for seller eligibility.

What information and documents should you prepare?
Prepare details that match your official records. TikTok may request different materials depending on whether you register as an individual or a business entity, and the exact verification flow can vary.
For an individual application
- Legal name, date of birth, and residential address.
- Identity-document details and an accepted ID, such as a U.S. passport or passport card, driver’s license, state ID, or permanent resident card.
- The last four digits of your Social Security number or an ITIN where allowed.
- Bank-account information and W-9 tax information.
- Proof of address, if requested. TikTok’s guide gives examples including a utility bill, insurance policy, bank statement, or credit-card bill.
For a business entity
- The legal business name, registered U.S. address, EIN, and bank information.
- Details and identity documents for the primary representative and, where applicable, beneficial owners.
- Business identity, address, or existence documents if TikTok requests them for your entity or verification flow.
For either application type, submit valid, unaltered, clearly visible files that match the information you entered. TikTok’s individual guide says uploaded files must be under 10 MB. If Seller Center displays yellow verification warnings, resolve them before submitting; respond to any additional document request through Seller Center.
How to apply and set up your shop
- Open Seller Center. Start the U.S. application through TikTok Shop Seller Center. Sign up with a TikTok account or with email or phone, then enter the verification code.
- Choose your applicant type. Select the category that matches your legal and tax status before filling in the requested personal or business details.
- Enter your information and upload documents. Provide the requested identity, address, tax, and entity materials. Check that names and addresses match across the application and documents.
- Review verification indicators and submit. Correct mismatches, clear warnings, and provide any additional documents TikTok requests before submitting.
- Complete setup after verification. Configure warehouse information, add products, and provide tax information. You can also link an Official TikTok Account; TikTok says linking it enables e-commerce video and LIVE permissions.
How much does it cost to sell on TikTok Shop?
TikTok’s U.S. business FAQ describes a 0% platform commission waiver and no registration, subscription, or product-cancellation fees during an “early testing stage,” while expressly warning that fee information is subject to change. That description is conditional, not a permanent or guaranteed price promise. Check the live Seller Center fee schedule before setting prices.
The FAQ does not establish a definitive all-in cost for a particular seller or product. Your overall expenses may also depend on applicable service fees, fulfillment, shipping, and taxes, so assess those for your own setup rather than treating a platform-fee statement as the full cost of selling.

TikTok’s U.S. INFORM Consumers Act guidance describes additional obligations for qualifying sellers; these are not baseline application requirements for everyone. It says the policy applies to sellers with at least 200 separate sales of new or unused products and at least $5,000 in gross revenue in any continuous 12-month period during the previous 24 months. Affected sellers receive a notification to verify information annually through the Qualification Center.
For sellers with at least $20,000 in annual gross revenue, TikTok says some contact information, including a physical address, must be disclosed on product detail pages, subject to exceptions. Consult TikTok’s current policy and any notification you receive to understand which requirements apply to your shop.
Can you open more than one seller account?
TikTok’s U.S. business-type guidance says up to five shops may use the same personal or business information, but each shop needs a unique email address and phone number. Account limits and rules can change, so confirm the current Seller Center requirements before relying on that allowance.
