One July 2026 management estimate works out to $5,100 per flight hour at 150 hours a year when fixed expenses are included, while its estimate for one additional hour is about $2,100 before airport and trip charges. Your actual budget depends on the aircraft, utilization, home base, crew, fuel, maintenance arrangements, and whether financing and depreciation are included.
What do published HondaJet cost estimates include?
Aircraft budgets usually separate fixed costs, which continue whether the jet flies or sits, from variable costs, which generally rise with flight hours and trips. Fixed expenses can include crew salaries and training, hangar, insurance, and management. Variable expenses can include fuel, maintenance allowances, engine reserves or program costs, landing and handling, and other trip charges.
The estimates below are in U.S. dollars and come from different providers and models. They are useful for framing a budget, not as a standardized rate or a guarantee of what an individual owner will pay.
| Provider and utilization | Published estimate | Basis and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Craft, HA-420, 200 hours a year | $445,490 a year: $223,890 fixed costs plus $1,108 per flight hour in variable costs | Estimate in an article published May 26, 2021, and updated July 31, 2025. The component assumptions may not match a particular aircraft or current contract. Craft |
| Liberty Jet, 200 hours a year | $579,439 a year: $230,059 fixed costs plus $349,380 direct operating costs | Sample budget; excludes purchase price, depreciation, and cost of capital. Fuel assumption displayed as $7.23 per gallon and described as updated weekly. Liberty Jet |
| Liberty Jet, 400 hours a year | $928,819 a year | Sample budget from the same page; excludes purchase price, depreciation, and cost of capital. Liberty Jet |
| Kitchen Aircraft Management, 150 hours a year | $5,100 effective annual cost per flight hour; about $2,100 for a marginal additional hour | Page updated July 2026. The effective figure divides fixed ownership expenses and full-time pilot employment across 150 hours. The marginal figure excludes airport and trip-specific expenses. Financing, debt service, depreciation, taxes, extraordinary maintenance, aircraft-specific insurance and hangar differences, and maintenance-program enrollment or catch-up exposure are excluded. Why do estimates at 200 hours differ by $133,949?
At the same stated annual utilization, Craft estimates $445,490 and Liberty Jet estimates $579,439—a difference of $133,949. That gap is a reminder that fuel assumptions, overhead, maintenance and engine-program treatment, and other model choices can materially change a published total. Liberty Jet’s displayed fuel assumption is $7.23 per gallon; it describes that figure as updated weekly. The providers do not publish a common standardized dataset, so their estimates should not be averaged into a supposed definitive cost.

Utilization also changes how fixed costs appear on a per-hour basis. A jet flown less often still incurs many annual costs; flown more often, those fixed costs are spread over more hours, while variable expenses increase. Liberty Jet’s sample rises to $928,819 at 400 hours, rather than simply doubling its 200-hour total.
What does it cost to fly a HondaJet per hour?
Be careful about the difference between an effective annual cost per hour and the marginal cost of one more hour. Kitchen Aircraft Management’s July 2026 estimate of $5,100 per hour at 150 annual hours includes fixed expenses and full-time pilot employment divided across those hours. Its approximate $2,100 marginal figure is for an added flight hour before airport and trip-specific charges. Neither figure should be treated as a universal hourly rate.

Likewise, an owner’s marginal operating cost is not equivalent to a charter quote. Charter pricing may include costs and services that an owner’s variable-cost estimate leaves out; a proper comparison also accounts for annual hours, trip availability, repositioning and fees, owner-side fixed costs, and who bears maintenance and aircraft-value risk.
What Honda publishes about warranty and maintenance plans

How to build a realistic budget for a specific HondaJet
Before treating a public estimate as an ownership decision, request written figures tied to the actual aircraft and its expected use. A useful budget should identify what is included, what is excluded, and whether each figure is fixed, per flight hour, or per trip.
- Aircraft: identify the serial number, condition, maintenance records, and current maintenance or engine-program status.
- Use: specify expected annual hours, mission distances, trip pattern, and the crew coverage required.
- Home base and trips: price hangar, insurance, fuel sourcing, landing, handling, and other airport or trip charges for the relevant locations.
- Ownership costs: state explicitly whether the model includes financing, debt service, depreciation, taxes, and cost of capital.
- Maintenance exposure: clarify program enrollment costs, catch-up exposure, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance assumptions, and extraordinary repairs.
Kitchen Aircraft Management specifically recommends applying its model to a particular serial number because aircraft, operating profile, and home-base details affect the result. No public estimate cited here settles a universal current manufacturer operating-cost rate or engine-plan price.

Does Honda’s reported reliability tell you what ownership will cost?
No. Dispatch reliability is an availability measure, not a cost quote. Honda’s reported 99.7% figure may be useful context about the manufacturer’s fleet claim, but it cannot predict an owner’s maintenance bill, downtime, or operating budget for a particular aircraft.
For buyers in Japan, Honda says its sales channel changed in 2025: Honda Aviation became the authorized sales agent, while JGAS continued maintenance service there. Honda’s Japan channel information
