If you take card payments through SumUp, your sales proceeds are paid out to either a SumUp Business Account or the bank account linked to your profile, after transaction fees. To change the destination in the US workflow documented by SumUp, open your profile, select Settings, choose Direct to bank account or SumUp Business Account, then review the prompt and select Continue. Menu labels, availability and timing can differ by country, so use SumUp’s help page for the country where your profile is registered.
First: are you transferring sales proceeds or sending Wallet money?
These are separate SumUp features. A merchant payout moves money from card transactions to your selected payout destination. A Wallet transfer sends money to another SumUp user or by bank transfer; the cited instructions for that feature are UK-specific. The steps below focus on merchant sales payouts.
How to send SumUp sales payouts to a bank account
SumUp describes payouts as the route by which money accepted in card transactions reaches the merchant. Transaction fees are deducted before the accepted funds are paid out. For the US account workflow documented by SumUp:
- Sign in to your SumUp profile.
- Select the profile symbol in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Choose Direct to bank account to receive payouts at a linked bank, or SumUp Business Account to use that account.
- Review the confirmation pop-up and select Continue.
SumUp also documents a route through Business Account > Account > Sales payouts. If you do not see the same labels, check the instructions for your registered country; the interface and available destinations can vary by market. SumUp’s US payout instructions

How payout frequency and timing work
The schedule depends on the selected destination and the country guidance that applies to your profile. SumUp’s US support page lists these options:
| US payout destination or schedule | Timing stated by SumUp |
|---|---|
| Direct to bank account — daily | Daily, excluding weekends and bank holidays |
| Direct to bank account — weekly | Tuesday |
| Direct to bank account — monthly | The third business day of the month |
| SumUp Business Account | Next day |
These are schedules listed on SumUp’s US help page, not a guarantee that every individual payment will arrive at that time. A setting change applies to future payouts only: a transaction already accepted is paid under the settings in effect when it was accepted. SumUp’s US payout instructions

For the UK, SumUp says payouts to a SumUp Business Account arrive the next day at 7 a.m., including weekends and holidays, while transfers to a bank account take 1–2 business days. It notes that some payments, including international card payments, can take longer and may be sent in a later payout. These are UK-specific terms and should not be applied to other markets. SumUp’s UK app instructions describe a separate feature for sending or requesting money from other SumUp users, including by bank transfer. Sending requires enough money in the SumUp Wallet. The cited UK page limits transfers to GBP accounts and sets a maximum send amount of £2,000 in a rolling seven-day period.
