HostGator Pricing Explained: Plans, Renewals, and Extra Costs

HostGator’s published prices are regular rates, and selected hosting terms are billed upfront. Compare the introductory total with your account’s renewal quote and include separate domain, add-on, and tax costs.

HostGator’s published shared-hosting prices range from $17.59 for one month of Hatchling to $791.61 for three years of Business. Those are regular prices, not necessarily the promotional price you may see at checkout—and the chart says the selected term is billed upfront. When an introductory offer ends, hosting renews at the regular rate. Check the official price chart and your account’s Renewal Center before comparing the cash due now with the later renewal bill.

HostGator shared-hosting prices

HostGator’s official chart lists these regular shared-hosting prices in U.S. dollars. The term is billed upfront; the monthly equivalent is a comparison figure, not proof that you will be charged monthly. Prices and offers can change, so confirm the live chart and your checkout total.

Plan 1 month 1 year 3 years
Hatchling $17.59 $158.27 $395.61
Baby $24.19 $224.27 $593.61
Business $30.79 $290.27 $791.61

Source: HostGator Hosting Price Chart. The chart also lists WordPress hosting regular prices: Baby is $24.19 for one month, $224.27 for one year, or $593.61 for three years; Business is $30.79, $290.27, or $791.61; and Pro is $38.49, $382.67, or $1,068.81. Those selected terms are billed upfront as well.

What happens to the price when hosting renews?

HostGator says: “If you are on an introductory or discounted hosting plan rate, you will remain at that price until the hosting plan renews.” At renewal, the plan moves to its regular price. Promotions are limited-time, apply to new customers, and cover the initial term rather than successive or renewal terms; the promotional plan then automatically renews at the regular rate shown in the control panel. The published regular chart is useful for comparison, but the account’s Renewal Center is the place to confirm the current, product-specific quote. See the pricing page and price chart.

A low introductory monthly figure can therefore understate both the cash due at signup and the cost after the first term. Compare the actual upfront total and the renewal amount for the same renewal period—not only the promotional monthly equivalent.

How billing and Auto-Renew work

With Auto-Renew enabled, HostGator charges the payment method on file according to the plan’s billing cycle. If Auto-Renew is off, you need to renew manually before the renewal date to avoid service interruption; a saved payment method is required to process a renewal. HostGator explains the process in How Do I Renew My Hosting?

HostGator’s cancellation guidance says an account renews 15 days before the hosting plan’s renewal date, or 5 days before for a one-month term. Treat that as operational timing to verify in your current account and the cancellation instructions before relying on a deadline.

Other costs to include in your estimate

Domain registration and renewal

A domain may be billed separately from hosting. HostGator’s domain page shows extension-specific first-term and renewal prices; examples displayed are .com at $12.99 introductory and $22.99 per year to renew, .net at $18.99 and $22.99 per year, and .org at $14.99 and $20.99 per year. These are page-listed examples, not guaranteed checkout prices: promotions are for the initial term, advertised prices exclude VAT, and standard VAT may be added and itemized for applicable EU customers. The page also warns that keeping a domain registered through HostGator after canceling an account may incur a fee. Check the live offer, extension, tax treatment, and account terms on HostGator’s domain registration and pricing page.

Add-ons

Add-ons have their own prices and renewal terms. HostGator’s Addon Price Chart says services renew at their listed regular prices and lists CodeGuard at these annual regular prices:

CodeGuard tier Regular price per year
Basic $47.88
Professional $59.88
Premium $107.88
Enterprise $239.88

Check the account’s Renewal Center for the current hosting and domain rates. HostGator says it has eliminated setup fees, but prices remain subject to change; see its hidden costs and setup fees guidance.

A practical way to compare the real cost

  1. Identify the offer and term. Note whether the checkout figure is promotional, how long it lasts, and whether the selected term is one month, one year, or three years.
  2. Check cash due now. Use the full upfront total for that term, not a monthly breakdown as if it were a monthly bill.
  3. Find the renewal quote. Check the plan’s renewal rate and period in the account’s Renewal Center, then compare it with the initial total.
  4. Add separate items. Include any domain registration or renewal, optional add-ons, and applicable VAT rather than treating them as included hosting costs.
  5. Review billing controls and dates. Check whether Auto-Renew is enabled and confirm the account’s current renewal and cancellation instructions.
  6. Match features to your needs. Price alone is not enough: HostGator says Hatchling supports one website. Review the Hatchling plan details and choose a plan that supports the number of sites you need.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
