What changed in Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet in 2025?
The clearest 2025 fleet milestone was the arrival of Hawaiian’s third Boeing 787-9. The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation says the aircraft, registration N782HA, was received on March 26, 2025. The state report said it was scheduled to fly Honolulu–New York JFK service from April 22 through August 20, 2025; that is the schedule reported at the time, not confirmation that every flight operated with that aircraft. The same state report gives the 787-9 a 300-seat layout: 34 business-class seats and 266 economy seats divided between Extra Comfort and Main Cabin. Those figures describe the reported configuration, not the capacity of Hawaiian’s fleet as a whole.
Did Hawaiian receive all the 787s it had ordered?
No. Hawaiian’s corporate responsibility report announcement describes an order for 12 Boeing 787-9 aircraft; an order is not the same as a delivery. Alaska Air Group’s third-quarter 2025 filing said some Hawaiian 787 deliveries contracted for 2025 had shifted later in the contracted year or into 2026. What planes does Hawaiian Airlines fly, and what roles do they serve?
The 2025 sources describe a mixed fleet rather than a single aircraft type replacing the others. They support comparing documented routes and passenger-facing features, but not a fleet-wide ranking of fuel burn, operating cost, reliability or emissions.

- The 12-aircraft 787-9 figure is an order quantity, not the number delivered in 2025.
- Some 787 deliveries contracted for 2025 were reported as shifted later in that contracted year or into 2026.
- The A330 interior upgrade is announced to begin in 2028; it was not a completed 2025 change.
