No: the reported $124.19 figure was not an official GTA 6 price. HotHardware reported on February 23, 2026, that third-party retailer Loaded briefly listed the Xbox Series X|S version for that amount, then removed the listing. As of October 8, 2026, Rockstar’s US store lists GTA VI for preorder at $79.99.
Is GTA 6 really $124?
There is no evidence in the cited reporting that Rockstar set the game’s price at $124.19. HotHardware said the figure appeared briefly on Loaded’s listing for the Xbox Series X|S version and was gone by the time HotHardware published its report. The original page was no longer available, and HotHardware said it could not find it in the Wayback Machine. The outlet assessed the figure as potentially a placeholder or otherwise unreliable; that is its interpretation, not confirmation of how Loaded generated the price.
Rockstar’s US store showed a $79.99 preorder listing when checked on October 8, 2026. That is the current official US-store reference in the available sources—not proof that the removed Loaded listing was a valid quote for an identical product, or that the price is the same in other regions or editions.
What the two price references actually show
| Listing | What was reported | Status and significance |
|---|---|---|
| Loaded, as reported by HotHardware on February 23, 2026 | $124.19 for the Xbox Series X|S version | The third-party listing had been removed by the time HotHardware wrote about it. The figure was not an announced Rockstar price. |
| Rockstar US Store, checked October 8, 2026 | $79.99 preorder listing | An official US-store price listing. Rockstar’s page identifies a physical code-in-box option; it does not establish a universal price across regions or editions. |
These are references from different dates and sources, not two verified, simultaneous prices for the same SKU. Treat the old number as a report about a short-lived retailer listing, not a reliable basis for budgeting or deciding whether to preorder.

What Rockstar currently lists for GTA VI
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists a November 19, 2026 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its US store lists the game for preorder at $79.99 as checked October 8, 2026. The store says the physical version is a code-in-box product rather than a disc edition: “Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box.”
Because the listed price is tied to Rockstar’s US store and was checked on a specific date, confirm the live store page before purchase. Prices and availability can differ by region and may change.

Don’t confuse the game listing with Rockstar merchandise
Rockstar separately lists The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection as a limited-edition collectible and GTA VI: The Album, described as featuring 34 original tracks. They are separate merchandise listings, not game editions and not evidence that the removed Loaded price was accurate.

How to make a safer preorder decision
- Use Rockstar’s official store listing for the current US preorder reference, and verify the displayed price and region at checkout.
- Check the product format: Rockstar’s physical option is a box containing a download code, with no disc.
- Do not treat a retailer search snippet or a removed listing as confirmation of an official price. The $124.19 figure comes from HotHardware’s account of what it saw on Loaded, not an available Rockstar announcement.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
