The products described in the disclosure include:
- Contracts for difference, or CFDs; and
- Margin foreign exchange products.
These are described as over-the-counter derivatives offered through the company’s trading platform. The licence classification is consistent with an investment-dealer authorisation under Mauritius’s securities framework, but the exact permitted activities should be read alongside the company’s disclosure documents and the conditions attached to the licence.
Why “excluding underwriting” matters
The full legal description is not simply “full-service dealer.” It is Full Service Dealer, excluding Underwriting.
Mauritius’s licensing framework lists separate categories for:
- Full Service Dealer including Underwriting;
- Full Service Dealer excluding Underwriting;
- Investment Dealer (Derivatives);
- Investment Dealer (Broker); and
- Investment Dealer (Discount Broker).
GO Markets’ licence falls under the category identified by the FSC as SEC-2.1B — Investment Dealer (Full Service Dealer excluding Underwriting), established under section 29 of the Financial Services Act 2007. Reports should therefore not say that GO Markets holds underwriting authorisation in Mauritius.

What the licence does not mean
The Mauritius licence is a regulatory authorisation for a specific legal entity. It is not a global licence for the GO Markets brand and does not automatically apply to clients who contract with another company in the group.
GO Markets identifies separate regulated entities in jurisdictions including Australia, Cyprus and Mauritius. The relevant entity depends on the client’s country, onboarding route and account agreement. A prospective customer should check the legal name and licence information in the account-opening documents rather than relying only on the brand name displayed on a website.
The authorisation also does not guarantee trading profits or remove the risks associated with leveraged products. GO Markets’ Mauritius documents warn that CFDs and margin foreign exchange involve a high risk of loss. Depending on the product and account terms, a trader may lose a substantial amount of money and potentially more than the initial amount deposited.
How to check the licence

Timeline
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 20 February 2020 | GO Markets obtained the Mauritius Investment Dealer licence. |
| 7 September 2020 | FX News Group reported the licence and described it as supporting GO Markets’ expansion into the Middle East, Africa and Asia. |
The distinction is important because a September 2020 report may otherwise be misread as evidence that the licence was issued on 7 September. The licence date was several months earlier.
