Frontier Airlines’ service from Everett’s Paine Field ended as planned on January 5, 2026, according to local reports. The airline began flying from the airport on June 2, 2025, with nonstop routes to Denver, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Frontier cited market demand in explaining the route change; it did not announce a firm date for a return.
When did Frontier stop flying from Paine Field?
Frontier launched Paine Field service on June 2, 2025. Lynnwood Times reported that January 5, 2026, was the planned final service date, making the run a little more than seven calendar months. The “seven months” description is a rounded shorthand, not an exact elapsed period.
The departure date and reason were reported by local news outlets in December 2025. Frontier’s launch date and initial destinations were confirmed in the airline’s June 2, 2025 launch announcement.
Which routes were affected?
Frontier’s Paine Field routes connected Everett with Denver, Las Vegas and Phoenix. The airline said each route would operate twice a week in its launch-day announcement. An earlier Snohomish County announcement had described the planned frequency as three times weekly per destination, so the figures refer to different announcements rather than a single consistent schedule.

Why did Frontier leave?
Local coverage attributed the decision to low consumer demand. FOX 13 Seattle quoted Frontier corporate communications manager Rob Harris as saying: “We periodically review and update routes based on market demand. We greatly value our partnership with Paine Field and, as with any market departure, we will continue to evaluate a potential return at some point in the future.”

That explanation describes a demand-based network review, but it does not establish why any particular route was dropped. The available reports do not provide route-level ridership, load factors or financial results. Frontier said it would evaluate a possible return; it did not commit to resuming flights.

What can travelers book from Paine Field now?
Paine Field’s live terminal destinations page identifies Alaska Airlines as its service provider. That airport page is a current reference, not a guarantee that a particular route or departure is available on a given date. Check the airline’s schedule directly before booking, especially if you are comparing Paine Field with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac).
Snohomish County owns and operates Paine Field, while Propeller Airports operates the passenger terminal under a lease, according to the county announcement. The county promoted local flights as a way for residents to avoid traveling to Sea-Tac; that stated convenience does not indicate whether Frontier’s routes were commercially successful.
