Frontier announced nine new routes from Atlanta in February 2025, adding options at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), a major Delta hub. The announcement projected a 40% year-over-year increase in Frontier departures from ATL by summer 2025 and service to 52 destinations. It does not show that Delta cut flights or quantify any effect on Delta’s capacity or market share.
What nine routes did Frontier announce from Atlanta?
Frontier’s February 27, 2025 announcement listed the following planned nonstop routes, start dates and weekly frequencies. These are the announced schedules, not confirmation of service today.

Frontier said the Aruba and Honduras services were subject to government approval and that flight times and frequencies could change. Frontier’s February 27 announcement and Hartsfield-Jackson’s announcement named the same destinations.
What changed by the June 2025 launch update?
On June 12, 2025, Frontier said six routes were launching that week: Jacksonville, Fort Myers, San Pedro Sula and St. Louis on June 12, followed by Palm Beach and Columbus on June 13. Its update listed San Pedro Sula at two flights per week, down from three in the February announcement, and St. Louis at three, down from four. What did Frontier mean by 40% more departures?
Frontier said on February 27, 2025 that it expected departures from ATL to rise 40% year over year by summer 2025, with its Atlanta network serving 52 destinations. The airport repeated the 52-destination outlook. Those figures describe Frontier’s planned operation at ATL; they are not a measurement of total airport capacity or Delta’s flight schedule.
Hartsfield-Jackson also reported that Frontier expected its ATL workforce to exceed 1,200 during 2025. Frontier projected an annual economic wage impact of $111 million associated with that employment. Both employment figures were forward-looking company or airport statements, not measured outcomes.

Does Frontier’s expansion mean Delta is cutting capacity?
No such conclusion follows from these announcements. Frontier’s added routes create more competition at ATL, but the releases do not report Delta schedule reductions, compare the airlines’ weekly seats or departures, or measure passengers switching carriers. Delta is a major hub airline at Atlanta, yet a rival’s growth is not evidence that Delta has reduced its own capacity.
A quantitative comparison would need the same time period and comparable measures—for example, weekly departures or seats, overlapping nonstop routes, and documented launch or withdrawal dates. The announcements alone do not provide those data.

How should travelers interpret Frontier’s fare claims?
Frontier president James Dempsey said the airline’s average fares were 60% lower than those of other carriers operating from ATL, citing 2024 third-quarter data. That is Frontier’s attributed comparison; the cited announcements do not independently validate it. The promotional fares printed in the launch announcements had purchase windows and travel restrictions, so they should not be treated as current prices. Check the airline’s booking channels for present-day schedules, availability and fares.
