Gage Roads Freo won the Bar category and Little Creatures Brewing received the Hall of Fame award at the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Business Awards on Thursday, October 10. The community-voted awards covered 15 categories; Business Person of the Year was shared by Mel Jacobs of Little Creatures Brewing and Tim Buckton of Warders Hotel.
How the 2024 awards were decided
The Fremantle Chamber of Commerce presented awards across 15 categories, with winners selected through public voting. The results show which nominees received recognition in each category; they are not a scored or independently audited ranking of business quality. PerthNow reported that more than 350 people attended the ceremony at the Esplanade Hotel. That figure describes attendance, not the number of voters. The Chamber CEO’s annual-report statement referred to “thousands of public nominations,” but the report does not give a precise count or establish that nominations and votes were the same measure. Little Creatures Brewing: Hall of Fame
Little Creatures Brewing received the Hall of Fame award and was also listed as a Bar runner-up. The Chamber’s 2024–25 annual report says the Hall of Fame recognises a business with well over a decade of contribution to the region, and names Little Creatures Fremantle as the 2024 recipient. Mel Jacobs of Little Creatures Brewing and Tim Buckton of Warders Hotel were both named winners. The Chamber listed Michael Piu, Stefanie Dobro and Lauri Curtain as runners-up.
