Which flights were affected—and were Atlanta departures grounded?
The hold applied to certain Delta flights inbound to Atlanta, not every Delta flight headed there. Atlanta News First named Nashville, New Orleans, Cincinnati, and Charlotte among affected cities, and described flights departing from several air traffic control regions, including Atlanta, Washington, Houston, Jacksonville, Memphis, and Indianapolis. This was not a report that all Atlanta airport traffic stopped. The inbound Delta measure should also be distinguished from weather-related or other disruptions affecting the wider airport that day; airport-wide delay figures do not show how many flights were affected by this particular request.

What should you do if your Delta flight is delayed?
For a current disruption, check your itinerary and flight status in Delta’s My Trips or the Fly Delta app. Delta directs customers whose flights depart within 72 hours to its delayed or canceled flight guidance. Delta’s advisories page, accessed October 8, 2026, includes an Atlanta construction advisory recommending that passengers arrive three hours early. That is current airport-planning advice, not an explanation or remedy for the March disruption.
