F1: The Movie is Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing film, overtaking World War Z, which held his career box-office record from 2013. Apple reported the racing film had passed $629 million worldwide by October 2025. That is Pitt’s personal career record—not the all-time worldwide record for any movie.
Which Brad Pitt movie holds his box-office record?
It is F1: The Movie, the 2025 Formula 1 feature starring Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski. Apple Original Films announced the film, with Warner Bros. handling its worldwide theatrical distribution. Apple’s announcement identifies the title, star, director and distributor.

The previous leader was World War Z, released in 2013. The 12-year span in the headline is the gap between that film and F1’s record-setting run in 2025. Motorsport.com’s 2025 comparison puts World War Z at approximately $540 million worldwide; it reports a later $545 million milestone for F1, but those figures should not be treated as totals measured at the same accounting cutoff. Motorsport.com’s comparison covers the career-record change.
How much did F1: The Movie make?
Apple reported the following worldwide milestones in its announcements. These are dated reported figures, not a final audited gross:
#1 Best Overall
- Runtime: 155 minutes
| Reported amount | When and how it was reported |
|---|---|
| More than $600 million worldwide | Apple Original Films, August 2025, in an announcement about the film’s return to IMAX and home release. Apple’s August announcement |
| More than $629 million worldwide | Apple Original Films, October 2025, in its streaming-debut announcement. Apple’s October announcement |
The opening weekend was much smaller than the eventual worldwide total: the Associated Press reported studio estimates of a $55.6 million North American opening and a $144 million worldwide opening in 2025. Those are opening-weekend figures, not lifetime grosses. The Associated Press report gives the opening estimates.
Is it the highest-grossing movie of all time?
No. The record discussed here is specifically Pitt’s highest-grossing film, not the movie with the largest unadjusted worldwide gross across all films. Disney announced on October 4, 2026, that Avengers: Endgame had surpassed Avatar to reclaim the all-time worldwide box-office record. Disney’s announcement concerns that separate, all-films ranking.

What other box-office distinction did F1 earn?
Formula One’s official 2025 season review identified F1: The Movie as the highest-grossing sports film at that time, surpassing Cars 2. That is a genre-specific distinction, separate from Pitt’s career record and the all-time worldwide ranking. Formula One’s season review describes the comparison.
