Spain’s CNMV listed “The Ethereum Code” in a warned-entities search result dated 18 March 2019, and Belgium’s FSMA included Ethereum Code in a 25 November 2020 notice advising investors not to respond to offers from named platforms. Those records are serious caution signals, but they do not establish who operates every site using a similar name today.
What the regulator warnings say
The warnings concern named entries, not every website that might use the words “Ethereum Code.” Check the exact domain and legal company behind any offer before deciding whether a record applies to it.
Spain’s CNMV: entries dated 18 March 2019
The CNMV warned-entities search result for “ethereum” includes “The Ethereum Code,” dated 18 March 2019, and a separate entry for “Ethereum Code Bot,” which lists ethereumcodebot.com. The result does not establish that the two entries have the same owner. The CNMV database is searchable and may change: CNMV warned-entities search.
Belgium’s FSMA: notice dated 25 November 2020
The FSMA included Ethereum Code in a group of platforms associated in its notice with fake advertisements and training-course offers. It strongly advised investors against responding to financial-service offers from the listed platforms. The notice also describes complaints that people could not recover their money or lost contact with a platform; that is context reported by the FSMA, not independent verification here of every complaint or of every site using the name. Neither record establishes a current operator, current operating status, or whether a newly encountered domain is connected to the warned entity. Their dates matter: they support caution about the named offer, not an assumption that every similarly named site is the same business.
Is Ethereum Code an official Ethereum app?
There is no basis in these sources to treat Ethereum Code as an official Ethereum product. Ethereum.org describes Ethereum as a decentralized network, not a company or financial platform; its site is educational, not a wallet, exchange, or trading service. Ethereum.org’s security and scam-prevention guidance explains the distinction.

Can an automated bot guarantee trading profits?
No. The CFTC says automated programs may help traders maintain discipline, but no technology can consistently predict the future. A bot or “AI” label does not establish performance, reliability, or authorization. The CFTC’s guidance on forex frauds and automated trading also urges readers to check registration and risk disclosures.
How to check a trading offer before depositing
- Identify the legal operator. Find the company’s full legal name, registered office, jurisdiction, and exact website domain. A product name alone is not enough to verify who will hold or trade your money.
- Check the relevant regulator’s records. Search using the legal name and domain, and confirm authorization directly with the regulator for the country where the firm says it operates. A warning about a name is relevant, but it may not prove that a different-looking site has the same operator.
- Read the account, fee, and risk disclosures. Understand who holds funds, how trades are made, what fees apply, and what conditions govern withdrawals. Do not rely on marketing claims in place of written terms.
- Stop if the pitch uses pressure or certainty. Guaranteed high returns, unsolicited approaches, urgency, an unclear physical presence, or a requirement to pay only in cryptocurrency are warning signs identified in CFTC guidance. These are general indicators of risk, not proof that every Ethereum Code site has used each tactic. CFTC guidance on fraudulent digital-asset trading websites.
- Do not pay extra to unlock supposed profits. The CFTC warns that crypto-fraud schemes may demand additional costs, such as purported taxes, before releasing apparent gains. Treat such demands as a serious warning sign; do not assume that paying will recover funds.
If you already sent money
Keep records of the site and domain, account details, transaction identifiers, messages, and any payment requests. Ethereum.org explains that confirmed Ethereum blockchain transactions are final and cannot be reversed by a central Ethereum authority. That does not establish whether a separate payment provider or financial institution can help with a particular payment; contact the provider promptly and ask what options apply. Do not trust anyone who guarantees recovery or asks for an upfront fee to retrieve funds. Ethereum.org’s security guidance covers documenting activity and the finality of confirmed transactions.

What is not established
The cited regulator records and guidance do not establish an Ethereum Code-specific user count, loss total, return rate, or independently verified performance result. They also do not identify a currently operating legal company behind every site using the name. Do not treat a platform’s own performance claims as verified facts without reliable, independently checkable evidence.
