In a May 2023 interview, singer Treyce said her team received a notice demanding US$40,000 and 100% of the publishing rights connected to “Lovezinho.” She also said she was appealing the takedown. The available reporting describes a disputed demand during negotiations—not a court-imposed fine or a verified final transfer of rights.
What Treyce said she was asked to pay and give up
In an interview published May 5, 2023, Treyce said: “Recebemos sim uma notificação e a multa seria de 40 mil dólares mais 100% do autoral.” In English: “We did receive a notice, and the fine would be 40 thousand dollars plus 100% of the publishing rights.” That is Treyce’s account of the notice; it does not establish that she paid US$40,000 or that the demand became a final legal obligation. She also said, “Estamos recorrendo através da minha nova assessoria jurídica” (“We are appealing through my new legal counsel”), describing an effort to challenge the takedown. The reviewed reporting does not establish the result of that appeal or any later settlement or judgment.
Why “Lovezinho” became a rights dispute
“Lovezinho,” performed by Treyce and associated with producer and co-writer WK, used the melody of the chorus of Nelly Furtado’s “Say It Right.” Contemporary reports said the use had not been authorized in advance. The dispute concerned the underlying composition and publishing interests, not simply a demand for money from a streaming service. GZH’s May 4, 2023 report.

Reporting identified Sony Publishing as representing the publishing interests in “Say It Right.” The parties’ reported positions differed: the Brazilian publishing side offered 30% of publishing to the foreign writers, while Sony’s reported position was 100% of the publishing for the “Say It Right” writers, plus US$40,000 over the unauthorized use. These were negotiation positions, not evidence that the rights were ultimately transferred. GZH quoted Sony Music legal director José Diamantino saying the 100% proposal was not arbitrary and was common in cases involving versions; a legal consultant for EM Publisher said the Brazilian side did not agree with Sony’s terms.
Demand, negotiation position, and final result are different things
- US$40,000: Reported as a demand associated with the dispute. The available accounts do not show a court imposing that amount as a fine.
- 100% of publishing: Reported as Sony’s requested share for the “Say It Right” writers. The reporting does not establish a final rights transfer.
- 30%: Reported as the Brazilian publishing side’s offer. It was a proposal, not a confirmed final allocation.
Publishing rights relate to the song’s composition and its writers’ interests. They are distinct from the recording and a performer’s participation in it. The available sources do not provide a definitive accounting of Treyce’s performance income or establish that she personally surrendered all rights associated with her recording.

Why the song was removed—and what remains unknown
GZH reported that “Lovezinho” was removed from streaming platforms in early May 2023 after negotiations failed to produce an agreement. A separate May 2023 report said royalties were being held by ECAD and streaming platforms while the dispute remained unresolved, but did not disclose an amount. That is a dated status report, not confirmation of the present royalty position. UOL’s May 2023 report on royalties.
The reviewed sources do not verify whether the track was later restored, whether royalties were released, or whether the dispute ended in a settlement or judgment. They therefore cannot establish Treyce’s current streaming or royalty status.
