Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’s Los Feliz home sold in 2018 for about $4.9 million—not in a newly announced 2026 sale. Traded reports the transaction at $4,913,000, while Architectural Digest and Just Jared round it to $4.9 million. The claim that the family moved away from Hollywood comes from later, secondhand reporting; it has not been established as the reason for that sale.
What happened to the Los Feliz home?
The property was the couple’s Los Feliz home in Los Angeles. Architectural Digest reports that Mendes bought it in 2008 for $3.2 million and that the couple sold it in 2018 for $4.9 million. Traded gives the sale figure as $4,913,000. The $5 million in the headline is therefore a rounded description of the reported transaction, not its exact reported price.
Just Jared also reported the $4.9 million sale on December 31, 2021, describing the home as the couple’s main residence for roughly a decade. That 2021 article covered the earlier transaction; it did not report a new sale that year.
Did they sell it to move away from Hollywood?
The timing does not establish that the home sale was made for that reason. Architectural Digest reported in 2024 that the family had left Los Angeles to live farther north. In that account, the explanation that they wanted their daughters to grow up away from Hollywood was attributed to an unnamed source quoted by People and relayed by Architectural Digest—not to a direct statement from Gosling or Mendes.

The available reporting does not confirm that the 2018 sale was specifically intended to facilitate the later-reported move, or that the reported explanation was the couple’s confirmed motive. It is more accurate to treat the transaction and the later account of their relocation as separate reported facts.
