Is Derby County being taken over?

The club and Pride Park were held in separate legal entities from 2022, then unified again under a new holding company in May 2025, according to the club. A reported expression of interest, a formal offer and a completed takeover are different stages. Any future bidder comparison should distinguish them and assess the stake sought, price, liabilities assumed, evidence of funding, regulatory approval and treatment of Pride Park.
What is Derby County worth?
No current asking price or independently verified current valuation is established by the available sources. BBC Sport reported in 2025 that Clowes paid £55 million for his 2022 takeover. The club’s financial summary reports net liabilities of £44.9 million for the year ending June 2025, largely related to owner-funded cash injections for day-to-day running costs. The clearest confirmation would be a dated club announcement naming the bidder and describing the status of the proposal. If the club does not announce an offer, reliable reporting should identify its sources and distinguish a bid from interest or negotiations. Companies House filings can help verify changes in company ownership, but a filing may follow rather than announce the start of a transaction.

Until there is such confirmation, the defensible position is that Clowes remains the identified owner, the anticipated 2026 takeover did not complete, the club was said to be off the market, and neither a named bidder nor a current valuation is established.
