Delta Air Lines announced a 4% base-pay increase for eligible employees worldwide on May 1, 2026. The company later said the increase took effect in June. Delta’s public announcement does not identify every covered job classification, so it confirms a broad eligibility statement—not that every flight attendant or ground worker received the increase.
What Delta announced
Delta described the planned increase as its fifth consecutive annual raise and an additional $500 million annual investment. Those are the company’s characterizations of the raise, not an independently calculated measure of each employee’s change in pay. In the May 1 announcement, CEO Ed Bastian said in an internal memo: “Caring for our people is the heart of Delta’s culture. This core value guides our approach to making consistent and meaningful investments in you and your colleagues.” Delta’s May 1, 2026 announcement
Delta’s September 2026 company update says the pay increase took effect in June. Delta AFA, the flight attendants’ union, specified June 1 in its May 1 statement. The June 1 date is the union’s statement; Delta’s company materials establish June without specifying a day. Delta’s September 2026 update · Delta AFA’s May 1 statement
Who is covered by the 2026 increase?
Delta’s announcement says the increase applies to eligible employees worldwide but does not give a job-by-job eligibility list. Delta AFA’s statement addresses flight attendants, but it does not establish which ground-worker groups were eligible. The available public statements therefore do not confirm that all flight attendants or all ground workers received the 2026 increase.

For an individual employee, the practical answer depends on eligibility under Delta’s applicable pay arrangements. Employees seeking confirmation for a specific role should check company communications or ask their manager or HR representative.
Keep the 2026 raise separate from profit sharing and earlier increases
The $1.3 billion in Delta’s May 2026 announcement refers to employee profit sharing, not the 4% base-pay increase. Profit sharing is a separate compensation element, so the two figures should not be treated as one raise. Delta’s announcement also discusses the profit-sharing payout; its September update distinguishes the pay increase from that payout.

The 4% increase implemented in June 2025 was a separate, prior raise. Delta’s 2026 proxy statement says that 2025 increase applied to ground employees and flight attendants, following 5% increases in 2024 and 2023. Those historical job-group details do not establish the eligibility scope of the 2026 increase. Delta’s 2026 SEC-filed proxy statement

Delta AFA welcomed the raise while arguing that flight-attendant compensation also depends on scheduling protections, incentives, benefits, and the conditions under which pay rates apply. The union said the increase would make pay competitive for only a few months. That is the union’s advocacy position, not an independently verified comparison of total compensation. For a meaningful comparison with another airline’s pay change, look beyond the percentage: compare effective dates, the pay scale and covered job groups, whether the change is contractual or discretionary, work rules that determine when rates apply, benefits and scheduling protections, and whether profit sharing or incentives are included.
