The Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 deal was real, but it was historical rather than current. Notebookcheck reported on September 2, 2024, that Dell listed a configuration with a Core i7-13620H processor, RTX 4060 graphics, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 16-inch 2560×1600 120Hz display for $807.50 after coupon code SAVE15. No current August 2026 price or inventory is verified here.
At that price, it was a strong value for a large-screen productivity and creator laptop that could also handle gaming. The main compromise was the RTX 4060’s reported 60-watt power limit, which makes it slower than the same GPU in many dedicated gaming laptops.

How the 27% discount was calculated
The promotion’s arithmetic was:
| Price stage | Amount |
|---|---|
| Reported list price | $1,100 |
| Dell sale price before coupon | About $950 |
SAVE15 coupon deduction |
$142.50 |
| Reported final price | $807.50 |
| Total reduction from $1,100 | $292.50 |
The effective discount was $292.50 ÷ $1,100 = 26.59%, rounded to 27%. That figure describes the reduction from Dell’s stated list price after applying both the sale price and coupon; it does not mean the coupon alone reduced the laptop by 27%.
The price and coupon were time-limited. Dell’s list price was the reference used in the original report, not necessarily an independently verified market-wide MSRP. Coupon eligibility could also depend on the product SKU, region, account, and checkout date. See Notebookcheck’s historical deal report.

The exact model matters. Dell also sold the Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 with different processors, graphics options, memory and storage configurations, and a 1920×1200 60Hz display. Dell’s official documentation lists both display options, so “Inspiron 16 Plus 7630” alone does not guarantee a 120Hz panel.
The display was the laptop’s strongest feature
The advertised 2560×1600 screen provides a 16:10 workspace with more vertical room than a typical 16:9 laptop. That is useful for documents, spreadsheets, photo-editing interfaces, video timelines, and multitasking. The 120Hz refresh rate also makes scrolling and motion feel smoother than on a standard 60Hz panel.
Dell specifies 100% sRGB typical coverage for the 2.5K option. That makes the panel suitable for general creative work aimed at the sRGB color space, but it is not the same as a professional wide-gamut, HDR, high-brightness reference display. Its 300-nit typical brightness is reasonable indoors and less convincing in direct sunlight or very bright rooms.

Panel terminology is inconsistent across coverage. Dell uses the broader “WVA,” or Wide View Angle, designation; Notebookcheck called the sale unit’s panel VA, while PCWorld described its review unit as IPS. The safest conclusion is that panel characteristics can vary by configuration. Verify the exact resolution, refresh rate, and service tag before buying.
RTX 4060 graphics, but not a full-power gaming implementation
The RTX 4060 gives this otherwise understated multimedia laptop substantially more graphics capability than an integrated-GPU machine. It can handle modern games at 1080p and supports GPU-accelerated applications such as video editing, 3D work, and some AI-enabled software.
However, Notebookcheck and historical configuration information identified a relatively low 60W graphics power limit. An RTX 4060 laptop GPU is not one fixed performance level: higher-power gaming laptops can give the same GPU considerably more thermal and electrical headroom.

That distinction is especially important at the display’s native 2560×1600 resolution. Demanding games may require lower settings, upscaling, or frame-generation features. The 120Hz panel is useful for gaming, but the reported response time and constrained GPU make this a poor choice for competitive players seeking maximum frame rates.
The more accurate description is creator or multimedia laptop with gaming capability, not high-performance gaming laptop.
What independent reviews found
Reviews of closely related configurations were generally positive about the laptop’s everyday performance, construction, screen, and battery life. PCWorld reviewed a version with a Core i7-13700H, RTX 4060, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD, while Windows Central also viewed the model as a capable creator machine with occasional-gaming potential.

Best Value
- Edge-to-edge clarity: Enjoy crisp, expansive visuals on a 16" screen with up to FHD+ and a 16:10 aspect ratio—delivering a wide, immersive viewing experience.
- All-day comfort: Dell ComfortView Plus helps reduce harmful blue light emissions while preserving true-to-life color, keeping your eyes comfortable even during prolonged screen time.

- Adaptive thermals: Built-in technology allows your PC to sense when it's on a stable surface and adjusts its power and thermals to run more efficiently.
- Confirm the exact processor, especially i7-13620H versus i7-13700H.
- Confirm that the graphics are an RTX 4060 rather than an RTX 4050 or integrated graphics.
- Verify both 2560×1600 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
- Check the installed RAM and SSD capacities and whether upgrades are supported.
- Determine whether the unit is new, open-box, refurbished, or used.
- Check battery health, warranty length, charger inclusion, and return terms.
- Look for the GPU power limit if the seller provides it; the RTX 4060 badge alone is insufficient.
- Compare the total price, including shipping and tax, with newer laptops offering similar display and graphics specifications.
Old stock may have a shorter practical support horizon, while refurbished and marketplace units introduce additional uncertainty around battery condition and warranty coverage.
Verdict
The reported $807.50 price was compelling because it combined a 2.5K/120Hz display, RTX 4060 graphics, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and upgrade potential at a midrange price. The 27% figure was mathematically consistent with the reported $1,100 list price, but the promotion was published on September 2, 2024 and should not be presented as a live deal.
For a 2026 buyer, the Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 only makes sense at a suitably reduced price that reflects its older platform, modest display brightness, weight, heat and fan noise, and 60W RTX 4060 implementation. At anything close to its original premium pricing, compare newer laptops and evaluate GPU wattage, display quality, warranty, and condition rather than relying on the RTX 4060 label or the old 27% claim.
