Did David Genat eventually get the money? In an interview published March 26, 2025, the Deal or No Deal Island Season 2 winner said the prize was not yet in his account. The available reporting does not confirm whether he received it later, so it would be inaccurate to say he still has not been paid.
How much did David Genat win?
Genat won a deal reported as US$5.8 million in the Season 2 finale of Deal or No Deal Island, according to Peacock’s winner announcement, published March 26, 2025. Paramount Australia & New Zealand also announced the US$5.8 million win on March 27, 2025 (Paramount announcement).

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported the prize as approximately A$9.2 million in its March 28, 2025 article. That was an approximate conversion at the time, not a current exchange-rate value. These are reported prize figures; they do not establish what Genat ultimately received after taxes or other deductions.
What did Genat say about getting paid?
In an Entertainment Weekly interview published March 26, 2025, reporter Dalton Ross asked whether Genat finally had the money. Genat answered, “No!” and said, “It’s not in the account just yet.” He also joked that he had already started spending it.

Genat said he had not asked when the payment would arrive and recalled signing a document intended to facilitate payment. His remarks describe his status on the date of that interview; they do not establish whether or when the prize was paid afterward.
Has he received the $5.8 million since then?
The sources cited here do not confirm a later payment date, payment schedule, or final amount received. The precise answer is therefore: Genat said the prize was not yet in his account in March 2025, and a subsequent payout update is not confirmed in the available reporting. The headline claim that he “hasn’t gotten” the money should not be read as a verified statement about his current status.

Does the show’s cancellation affect the prize?
No payment conclusion follows from the show’s cancellation. TVLine reported on December 2, 2025 that NBC had canceled Deal or No Deal Island after two seasons (TVLine). That report concerns the series’ future, not whether Genat received his prize.
