Apple: compare the immediate discount with Apple’s gift-card value
Apple’s own store generally relies on promotional gift cards rather than conventional Cyber Monday markdowns. Contemporary deal coverage noted this distinction. A gift card is not the same as an immediate price reduction unless you already expect to spend that amount with Apple.

Retailer pricing can beat Apple’s direct promotion, but check whether the item is sold by the retailer itself or by a marketplace seller. Also compare return windows, warranty handling, shipping date and the exact configuration—not merely the product family name.
Sony: the model generation matters more than the percentage discount
Sony discounts often cover multiple generations at once. A reduced WH-1000XM or WF-1000XM model may be excellent value, but it can lack newer processing, microphones, battery improvements, codec support, comfort revisions or multipoint behavior found on a replacement model.
Before buying Sony headphones or earbuds, compare the discounted model with the newest equivalent at Sony’s official electronics store. For Bravia TVs, soundbars and gaming hardware, check HDMI eARC, Dolby Atmos support, console refresh-rate compatibility, screen size and delivery timing. Do not call a product the “best deal” solely because it has the largest percentage reduction.

Bose: strong historical value, but verify the current page
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds’ historical $199 price was $100 below the listed $299 reference price. Whether that is a good purchase depends on your priorities: open-ear designs trade isolation for environmental awareness, so they are not a direct substitute for noise-canceling headphones.

- Amazon: broad inventory, but verify Prime or coupon requirements, seller identity, fulfillment and warranty coverage.
- Best Buy: useful for pickup, open-box comparisons and Apple, Sony, Bose, TV and gaming inventory. Do not confuse open-box or membership pricing with a standard new-product price. Its Cyber Monday pages warned that promotions could begin before and end after stated sale dates.
- Target: check Target Circle, payment-product requirements, local inventory and the exact seller.
- Apple: best for configuration control, AppleCare and direct manufacturer support, but not necessarily the lowest immediate price.
- Sony and Bose: useful manufacturer-direct comparisons with clearly stated product and warranty information.
How to tell whether a “deal” is genuine
- Use the exact model number. Product families contain different generations, storage tiers, sizes and regional variants.
- Compare against the normal street price. MSRP is only a secondary reference; a product advertised as 30% off MSRP may regularly sell at that price.
- Check the condition. New, refurbished and open-box products should never be treated as interchangeable.
- Inspect the seller and fulfillment source. Marketplace listings can have different warranties, return handling and international sourcing.
- Read the promotion terms. Look for clipped coupons, Prime, Target Circle, Walmart+ or retailer-card requirements, trade-ins, bundles and app-only checkout.
- Confirm the cart price. The displayed price may apply only to an unavailable color or configuration, or may disappear at checkout.
- Check delivery and returns. A live discount does not guarantee holiday delivery, and clearance or marketplace items may have different return rules.
Deals to skip
- A Cyber Monday landing page that does not show the same price on the product page.
- A small discount on an older product when a newer model is close in price.
- A marketplace listing with unclear warranty or return coverage.
- A bundle whose apparent savings depend on unwanted accessories or subscriptions.
- An Apple gift-card promotion presented as though it were an immediate cash discount.
- A “lowest price ever” claim without a documented price-history period.

- Match the model number and generation.
- Confirm new versus refurbished or open-box condition.
