It was a real promotion, but not a guaranteed dinner ticket—and it has ended. In April 2025, the $TRUMP meme coin contest offered invitations to the top 220 holders for a dinner with President Donald Trump on May 22, 2025, at Trump National Golf Club in the Washington, D.C., area. The top 25 were also advertised as eligible for a reception and tour. The event was later reported to have taken place, with Trump in attendance.
How the $TRUMP dinner promotion worked
The promotion used a competitive leaderboard, not a fixed purchase price. Contemporary coverage described the ranking as based on holders’ average $TRUMP holdings from April 23 through May 12, 2025. A purchase alone did not guarantee an invitation: a buyer’s position relative to other participants determined whether they ranked among the top 220.
The announced prize was an invitation to the May 22 dinner at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, in the Washington area. The top 25 holders were described as eligible for an additional reception and tour. NPR reported that the tour description changed in later versions of the promotion’s website language, so the original announcement should not be read as a stable or guaranteed description of every perk.
Was there a minimum amount that guaranteed a seat?
No guaranteed threshold is established by the available reporting. Because places depended on leaderboard rank over a defined period, there was no stated purchase amount that assured every buyer an invitation. Contemporary spending estimates for invitees, where reported, describe that particular contest—not a qualification rule or a price for access.

Did the dinner actually happen?
Yes. The dinner was scheduled for May 22, 2025, and contemporaneous reporting said Trump dined with top purchasers at his golf club in Virginia. That makes the offer a completed historical event, not an available way to arrange a meeting with the President today.
Why the promotion drew criticism
The contest prompted criticism over the financial and ethical implications of offering access to a sitting president in connection with purchases of a cryptocurrency associated with him. The controversy was also discussed in the Congressional Record. Those congressional statements document criticism and assertions; they are not, by themselves, a judicial finding that the promotion was unlawful.

What this means for anyone considering the offer now
