Costco’s reported Nintendo Switch 2 launch-period prices were $524.99 for a bundle with Mario Kart World and 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, $74.99 for the Pro Controller and $62.99 to pre-order Donkey Kong Bananza. Those figures come from a May 23, 2025 report about the U.S. launch on June 5, 2025; they are historical, not confirmation of current Costco prices or stock.
What Costco reportedly charged at the Switch 2 launch
Notebookcheck reported the following Costco prices ahead of the U.S. launch. Nintendo’s official U.S. prices, announced April 18, 2025, provide a comparison point.
| Product or offer | Costco price reported May 23, 2025 | Nintendo U.S. MSRP, announced April 18, 2025 | Difference from MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 + Mario Kart World + 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack | $524.99; includes the console, a Mario Kart World download and the membership, according to the report | $499.99 for the console and Mario Kart World bundle; Nintendo’s cited membership price was $49.99 | The Costco package was reported as $25 below the combined typical prices cited by Notebookcheck |
| Switch 2 Pro Controller | $74.99 | $84.99 | $10 below MSRP |
| Donkey Kong Bananza pre-order | $62.99 | $69.99 | $7 below MSRP |
The Costco figures are attributed to Notebookcheck’s contemporaneous report, not an independently verified Costco transaction record. Nintendo’s figures are U.S. MSRP, not a promise that every retailer would charge those prices. Notebookcheck’s May 23, 2025 report; Nintendo of America’s April 18, 2025 price announcement.
Was the $524.99 bundle a good value?
It depended on whether you wanted all three parts: the console, Mario Kart World and the 12-month Expansion Pack membership. Nintendo’s U.S. MSRP for the console-and-game bundle was $499.99, and Notebookcheck described the membership as normally costing $49.99. On those cited prices, the components together would total $549.98, making the reported Costco package $25 less.

- HD Rumble 2
- Motion controls
- Built-in amiibo functionality*
- Capture Button
- C Button for GameChat**
That comparison is useful only if you would use the membership. If you wanted the console and game but not the membership, the relevant baseline was Nintendo’s $499.99 bundle MSRP, so the reported Costco package cost $25 more than that bundle alone. Costco membership was required to use the reported deals, which also affects the value calculation for anyone who would join solely for this purchase.
Should you buy the Pro Controller?
The reported $74.99 Costco price was $10 below Nintendo’s U.S. MSRP of $84.99. A Pro Controller is an optional separate controller, not a requirement to play Switch 2. It makes sense to consider if you want an additional controller or prefer a dedicated controller for your play setup; skip it if the controllers included with your system meet your needs.

When was Donkey Kong Bananza available?
Notebookcheck reported a $62.99 Costco pre-order price against Nintendo’s $69.99 U.S. MSRP. The game was scheduled for July 17, 2025, so this was a pre-order offer for a later release—not a game available on the console’s June 5 launch day.

No conclusion about current availability follows from a 2025 launch report. Costco’s Same-Day listing describes the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle as including a full-game download, and it showed the item out of stock when accessed on October 8, 2026. That is a dated status snapshot, not a guarantee of its availability today or at a warehouse.

The launch report also said warehouse inventory and opening times were uncertain.
