China Airlines signed a firm order for 10 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on March 31, 2025, formalizing a commitment announced the previous December. Deliveries were scheduled to begin in 2029. The March 31, 2025 contract covers 10 A350-1000s, Airbus’s larger A350 variant. The signing finalized a commitment China Airlines had announced in December 2024. The timeline matters: the firm order was 10 in March 2025, then Airbus reported that China Airlines placed a firm order for the five additional aircraft on December 18, 2025. The reported firm total for the type is therefore 15—not 15 aircraft signed in the March deal. Airbus’s December 2025 announcement records the follow-on order.
When are deliveries expected, and where might the planes fly?
China Airlines said deliveries were scheduled to start in 2029. That is the airline’s announced plan, not confirmation that any aircraft has been delivered or entered service. The airline and Airbus said the A350-1000s were intended for long-haul routes to North America and Europe. China Airlines’ Chinese-language release identified New York and London as high-demand destinations; these are intended deployment examples, not confirmed inaugural routes.

How does the A350-1000 fit the existing fleet?
Airbus said the new aircraft would provide operational commonality with China Airlines’ A350-900 fleet. Airbus reported that the airline operated 15 A350-900s in its March 31, 2025 announcement; that is a dated fleet figure, not a current count. The sources establish the planned long-haul role and commonality, but do not provide enough information for a reliable comparison of cabin capacity, seating, or route economics.
What do China Airlines’ financial disclosures say about the order?
China Airlines’ third-quarter 2025 financial report lists approximate figures in thousands of US dollars. The list-price amounts are not the negotiated contract price, and the options figure is the disclosure made before the five options were firmed.

What performance claims has Airbus made?
Airbus’s March 2025 release says the A350 can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres) and uses 25% less fuel than previous-generation aircraft. These are manufacturer claims about the A350 family, with the comparison described generally in the release; they do not establish China Airlines’ actual fuel use, route capability, or operating costs.

Airbus also said the A350 was capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Its stated target for 100% SAF capability by 2030 is a company target, not an achieved result. Neither claim demonstrates what fuel mix China Airlines will use.

The order announcements establish the aircraft type, order timeline, planned delivery start, and intended broad route regions. They do not establish final schedules, cabin configuration, ticket availability, or passenger experience aboard China Airlines A350-1000s. With deliveries planned from 2029, the announcements describe a future fleet addition rather than an aircraft already carrying passengers.
