Charlton Heston’s former Beverly Hills estate at 2859 Coldwater Canyon Drive was reported listed for $10.5 million in 2025. That was a historical asking price, not a current one: brokerage pages now mark the property sold, but disagree on the sale amount. The home, designed by William S. Beckett and occupied by Heston for nearly half a century, was also described in 2025 as stripped to the studs during an unfinished remodel.

What happened to the $10.5 million listing?

The $10.5 million figure was the asking price reported in 2025 coverage by Mansion Global; it should not be treated as the estate’s current asking price. As of October 5, 2026, Carolwood Estates and Hilton & Hyland both mark the property sold, but their pages show different amounts. The available reports do not establish which figure is the definitive closing price.

Source and date Transaction status or amount How to read it
Mansion Global, 2025 $10.5 million asking price Historical ask reported with the 2025 listing, not a verified current price.
Carolwood Estates, page accessed October 5, 2026 Marked sold; $11.2 million displayed Brokerage-page amount; not independently reconciled with the other listing page.
Hilton & Hyland, page accessed October 5, 2026 Marked sold; $11.7 million displayed Brokerage-page amount; the page cautions that measurements and square footage are approximate.

Because those brokerage figures conflict and no public-record transaction document was reviewed to resolve them, neither should be presented as a verified final sale price.

Where the estate is and what it includes

The property is at 2859 Coldwater Canyon Drive in Beverly Hills. Reports describe a compound of nearly three acres, with a main residence and a multi-story studio or guesthouse, a screening room, tennis facilities, and private access to Franklin Canyon trails.

Reported size and bedroom totals vary by source and may reflect different counting conventions or whether guest quarters are included. The Los Angeles Times described the property in 2016 as nearly 9,700 square feet, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms. Current listing descriptions use different bedroom totals and area figures, so those descriptions should not be combined into a single definitive specification.

Designed by William S. Beckett; Heston’s home for decades

The house was built in 1959 and designed by architect William S. Beckett. Charlton Heston lived there for nearly half a century, until his death in 2008. The Los Angeles Times reported that the estate sold for $12,212,000 in 2016.

Later, Brentwood News reported that the current seller acquired the property through a trust in April 2024 for $7.8 million. That reported purchase price and the 2016 sale are separate historical transactions, not evidence of the final price shown by the conflicting sold pages.

What the 2025 listing said about the home’s condition

2025 reporting described the residence as stripped to the studs during an unfinished remodel. The listing presented it as a restoration opportunity and referred to plans to enlarge the house. Those plans describe proposed work, not completed construction or guaranteed approvals.

For a prospective buyer, that distinction matters: the reported asking price was attached to a property described as undergoing an incomplete renovation, while the proposed expansion remained a plan. The available reporting does not establish the ultimate scope, approvals, or completion of that work.
