Yes. BYD finished 2025 in seventh place among vehicle brands in Brazil’s annual non-commercial light-vehicle registration ranking, with 111,683 registrations and 5.59% market share, according to BYD’s account of Fenabrave data. A newer monthly snapshot puts BYD fourth overall in August 2026—but that is not a full-year 2026 result, and the figures come from a company report citing market data.
Where BYD ranked in Brazil
The ranking depends on the period and sales channel. BYD’s year-end report says the brand ranked seventh in Brazil for non-commercial light-vehicle registrations across 2025. In BYD’s latest located monthly report, covering August 2026, it ranked fourth in the overall market, which includes retail and direct sales.

The annual 2025 figures are from BYD Brasil’s year-end report. The August 2026 figures are from a BYD Brasil report published September 2, 2026. Both are company-authored accounts; Fenabrave’s January 2026 year-end bulletin provides independent industry-association context for registrations and model rankings.
What “best-selling” means in these rankings
In Brazil, vehicle registration counts (emplacamentos) are a more precise description of the measure than the broad term “sales.” The reported rankings compare brands by registrations or market share, not by revenue, profit, customer satisfaction, or vehicle quality.

Overall market versus retail
BYD’s August “overall market” ranking includes retail and direct sales. Its retail ranking is narrower: BYD defines retail as sales to individual buyers at dealerships. The company explains this distinction in its description of its retail ranking. So “first in retail” does not mean first across all Brazilian registrations.
Annual results versus a monthly snapshot
The seventh-place result covers the full 2025 calendar year and a stated non-commercial light-vehicle category. Fourth place is a single-month result for August 2026 in the overall market. Monthly positions can change, so the August ranking should not be described as BYD’s full-year 2026 standing or compared with the annual 2025 rank as though the measures were identical.

The Dolphin Mini’s role in the August result
BYD’s August report says the Dolphin Mini registered 8,299 units and ranked fourth among all vehicle models that month. That model result gives a specific example behind the brand’s high monthly position, but it does not by itself explain the full brand ranking or establish why registrations increased.

Registration volume and market share show BYD’s position in the Brazilian vehicle market for the stated period and category. They do not establish that a particular model is reliable, affordable to own, profitable for the company, or a better fit for an individual buyer. Those questions require model-specific evidence and a buyer’s own comparison of price, running costs, service access, and needs.

BYD Senior Vice President Alexandre Baldy characterized the August result as arriving ahead of the company’s own target to reach Brazil’s top three by 2028. That is an executive’s description of the company’s progress, not an independent forecast or assessment.
