BlocFX is presented as a platform for international business payments involving African markets, but the available public information does not establish its current routes, fees, regulatory status, or delivery guarantees. A March 2024 article names Talibé Sokhna as its CEO and describes a Senegal-to-France trade-payment example; that example should not be treated as confirmation of a service currently available or a guaranteed 48-hour transfer.

What is BlocFX?

A March 29, 2024 TechAnnouncer article describes BlocFX as a cross-border payment service aimed at businesses, including firms trading between African countries and international markets. BlocFX’s LinkedIn profile similarly characterizes the company as a digital partner for international business money transfers and mentions payment corridors covering multiple countries, alongside partnerships with financial institutions, payment networks, and trade-finance professionals. The profile does not identify specific live routes or counterparties.

The article identifies Talibé Sokhna as BlocFX’s CEO and frames his leadership as part of the company’s effort to simplify commercial transfers. The sources available here do not provide a direct, attributable quote from Sokhna.

How does BlocFX work?

The 2024 article says customers can pay invoices in a currency of their choice and describes BlocFX as connecting transactions within its network rather than relying on “regular forex methods.” It does not explain the payment or settlement structure, how exchange rates are determined, which regulated entities handle each payment leg, or what fees and protections apply. The company profile’s description of payment corridors offers broad positioning, not enough detail to reconstruct how a transfer works.

Can it send money from France to Senegal?

The TechAnnouncer article gives a Senegal-to-France trade example: a Senegalese seller receives CFA francs after selling to a French customer. It says the payment arrives within 48 hours. This is an example asserted in that 2024 article, not independently verified performance or a current delivery commitment. The available information does not establish whether this route is live now, which CFA-franc currency or payout method applies, or what conditions might affect timing.

How many currencies does BlocFX support?

The 2024 article gives conflicting figures, referring to both “over 50 currencies” and 65 currencies. Neither figure can be treated as a verified current total. The available information does not establish BlocFX’s supported currencies or the routes on which they can be used.

Is BlocFX FCA-regulated, and how are funds protected?

The TechAnnouncer article describes BlocFX as “FCA-regulated” and says funds are “secured by the Bank of England,” but it does not name the legal entity, provide an FCA firm reference number, specify permissions, or explain the claimed safeguarding arrangement. Those statements therefore do not establish which firm would contract with a customer, what regulated activities it may carry out, or what protections apply to a particular transfer.

The UK Financial Conduct Authority advises: “Always check the firms or person you’re dealing with is listed on the Register.” Its guidance explains that the Register can be used to check a firm’s activities and permissions; a listing alone does not confirm that FSCS or Financial Ombudsman Service protection will definitely apply. Before sending money, identify the contracting entity and check its exact permissions and the applicable safeguarding and complaint arrangements on the FCA Register: FCA firm checker.

What are the fees, eligibility rules, and delivery terms?

The 2024 article promotes lower costs than traditional banks, online onboarding, account opening within five working days, and debit-card access. It does not establish current prices, eligibility, account terms, or whether these features remain available. No verified current fee schedule or transfer commitment is available here, so a business should not rely on those promotional statements to estimate a payment’s total cost or arrival date.

Before using any provider for a business payment, request the total amount the sender will pay and the amount the recipient should receive, including fees and any exchange-rate spread. Confirm the route, payout method, timing conditions, cancellation or failed-payment process, and support channel in the provider’s current terms.

How BlocFX fits into Africa’s wider payments landscape

Cross-border payments in Sub-Saharan Africa can move through correspondent-bank transfers, mobile-money services, regional payment systems, cryptocurrency platforms, and fintech products such as digital wallets. The IMF’s 2025 overview discusses PAPSS as an initiative intended to support instant or near-instant transfers between originators and beneficiaries in participating African countries. That context helps explain why local payout options, interoperability, currency conversion, compliance, and settlement timing matter—but it is not evidence that BlocFX participates in PAPSS or uses any particular payment infrastructure.

What is established—and what remains unverified

  • Established in the cited descriptions: A 2024 article and BlocFX’s LinkedIn profile position it around international business transfers and payment corridors involving African markets.
  • Not established: Current live routes, supported currencies, prices, eligibility, delivery commitments, legal contracting entity, regulatory permissions, safeguarding arrangements, and customer protections.
  • Practical next step: Obtain current written terms and verify the legal entity and its permissions before relying on the service for a payment.
