On October 9, 2025, CarExpert summarized reporting by Automotive News that Nissan was speaking with other automakers about a vehicle based on the upcoming Rogue hybrid. One source identified Ford and Stellantis among the companies in discussions. The report described a possible arrangement involving Nissan’s Rogue/X-Trail hybrid and its e-POWER system, but it did not say the companies had reached an agreement. CarExpert’s account of the report also said Nissan’s preferred arrangement would include an electric vehicle supplied to Nissan in return; it described that reciprocity as a preference, not an absolute condition.
That distinction matters: a report about talks is not evidence that a vehicle has been approved, that a specific brand will receive it, or that production or sales plans exist. No on-the-record statement from Ford or Stellantis about these specific reported discussions was established in the cited coverage.
What did Nissan say about partnership talks?
In a December 8, 2025 account, Car and Driver reported remarks by Ponz Pandikuthira, then Nissan America’s head of product planning, at a media event. Pandikuthira said Nissan was speaking with several potential partners, that any arrangement should be reciprocal, and that no decisions had been made. He said: “We would not engage with a partner just to buy a vehicle, or platform, or piece of tech.” Car and Driver’s coverage linked Ford and Stellantis to the Rogue-centered rumors, while distinguishing those reports from Nissan’s broader comments.

What Nissan has officially confirmed about the 2027 Rogue Hybrid
Nissan unveiled its 2027 Rogue Hybrid e-POWER on September 21, 2026. The announcement confirms Nissan’s own vehicle and specifications; it does not announce a Ford or Stellantis partnership. Nissan says a gasoline engine generates electricity for a battery and two electric motors, and that the motors alone drive the wheels. The company describes the vehicle as a hybrid that does not require external charging. Nissan’s U.S. announcement gives this staged U.S. availability:

Nissan estimates 40 mpg city for the 2027 Rogue Hybrid based on its internal testing. The company says actual mileage may vary and presents the figure for comparison; it is not a third-party test result. Nissan also says nearly 2 million e-POWER-equipped vehicles have been sold in 68 markets since 2016. These are Nissan-published figures, not independently verified totals.

What a deal could mean—and what is not known
“Partnership” can describe very different arrangements in the auto industry. In this case, the reporting and on-record comments do not establish whether a possible collaboration would involve a complete vehicle, e-POWER technology, a platform, manufacturing, or an exchange of products or technology. They also do not establish whether a Ford model or a particular Stellantis brand such as Dodge would be involved. Treating any one of those possibilities as settled would go beyond the available information.
Nissan’s confirmed collaboration with Honda is separate. The Associated Press reported in August 2026 that the companies had agreed to work together on vehicle computer parts and software planned for vehicles entering the market in fiscal 2029. That agreement is not confirmation of the reported Ford or Stellantis discussions. The Associated Press report carried by The Washington Post describes the Honda collaboration.
