BKFC Fighters’ Purses and Earnings: What Public Records Show

Public records do not establish a typical BKFC salary. Event-specific reporting and California commission materials offer limited examples, with important caveats.

There is no complete public record of what BKFC fighters earn. Disclosed purses are tied to particular events and jurisdictions, and they do not necessarily include bonuses, sponsorships, pay-per-view shares, or other compensation. The clearest published examples include reported purses of $75,000 for John Dodson and $5,000 for Jayme Hinshaw at BKFC 28 in New Mexico in 2022—not a current pay scale for the promotion.

What BKFC fighters make is not fully public

The sources available do not establish a current average, median, total payroll, or reliable overall low-to-high range for BKFC fighters. Commission records and news reports can disclose amounts for particular bouts, but those records do not represent every fighter or event. An isolated figure should be read as an event-specific disclosure, not a standard rate.

Pay figures also need to be identified by what they measure. A reported bout purse is not automatically a fighter’s total earnings. Do not assume it includes a separately paid bonus, sponsorship, pay-per-view participation, or other compensation unless the source says so.

Reported purses at BKFC 28

The Albuquerque Journal, in a report syndicated by Yahoo Sports on September 19, 2022, reported these purses for BKFC 28 in New Mexico in August 2022:

Fighter Reported purse Context
John Dodson $75,000 BKFC 28, New Mexico, August 2022; reported by the Albuquerque Journal and syndicated by Yahoo Sports.
Jayme Hinshaw $5,000 BKFC 28, New Mexico, August 2022; reported by the Albuquerque Journal and syndicated by Yahoo Sports.

These are reported figures for two fighters at one event. They do not establish a present-day standard, what other fighters on that card earned, or either fighter’s total compensation. Read the Albuquerque Journal report syndicated by Yahoo Sports.

Why a commission record may need context

The California State Athletic Commission’s March 3, 2025 meeting materials document BKFC’s temporary licensing history in California and review four events held from April 2024 through January 2025. They also describe a contract discrepancy involving a bout at the April 2024 event: the fighter said the signed amount was $100,000, while the contract on file with the commission listed $200,000. The report says the promotion accepted responsibility for a matchmaking mistake.

Those two amounts describe conflicting figures in a specific contract record. They are not a typical-pay range, an average, or evidence that the fighter received either amount. The account illustrates why readers should check what a disclosed number represents and whether the record establishes that it was the amount actually paid. See the California commission’s March 3, 2025 meeting materials.

How to judge claims about BKFC pay

  • Look for a specific event and jurisdiction. A state commission disclosure or event-specific report is more informative than a broad claim about the roster.
  • Identify the source and its wording. Commission documents and contemporaneous reporting can support a claim about a particular disclosed purse. Estimates, salary blogs, and unsourced social-media posts should not be presented as official disclosures.
  • Separate purse from total earnings. Count a bonus, sponsorship, or other payment only when it is separately documented, and do not add it to a purse without a source.
  • Compare like with like. Event, jurisdiction, card position, type of amount, source, and inclusion of additional pay all affect whether two figures can be meaningfully compared.
  • Check whether the source reports an estimate. If the method or basis for a number is not stated, describe that limitation rather than implying commission confirmation.

BKFC’s comparison with other promotions

In California commission meeting materials, BKFC representative Sean Wheelock said the promotion provided “larger purses than any other promotions aside from UFC.” This is an attributed statement by a promotion representative, not a commission finding or an independent pay study. The materials do not provide comparative payroll data to verify it. See the California commission meeting minutes.

Ringside Mexican Style Boxing Hand Wraps 180", 1 Pair, Black
  • BUILT FOR BOXING, MMA & COMBAT SPORTS: Ringside Mexican Style Boxing Hand Wraps are made for boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, sparring, mitt work, heavy bag training, shadowboxing, and general combat sports conditioning. The 180" length gives athletes enough wrap coverage for the knuckles, hands, and wrists, making these boxing wraps a practical choice for gym sessions, home training, classes, and fight-prep routines.
  • 180" MEXICAN STYLE STRETCH: The semi-elastic cotton blend gives these hand wraps a Mexican-style feel with light stretch, comfortable tension, and a snug fit that helps reduce bunching when wrapped correctly. The longer 180-inch design works well for most adult users and offers more wrapping coverage than shorter 108" or 120" wraps, especially for athletes who prefer extra wrist turns, knuckle coverage, or wraps between the fingers.
  • WRIST SUPPORT & KNUCKLE COVERAGE: Use these boxing hand wraps under bag gloves, sparring gloves, training gloves, or MMA gloves to add a protective layer between your hands and your gear. When wrapped properly, the material helps support the wrist, cover the knuckles, and keep the hand more secure during punching workouts. A strong option for beginners learning to wrap and experienced users who train regularly.
  • THUMB LOOP & HOOK-LOOP CLOSURE: Each wrap includes a thumb loop to help start placement and a hook-and-loop closure to secure the wrap at the end of your wrap pattern. The design helps make the wraps easier to put on by yourself before boxing class, heavy bag work, sparring, kickboxing drills, or home gym workouts. For best results, follow a proper hand-wrapping tutorial and avoid wrapping too tightly.
  • MACHINE WASHABLE TRAINING PAIR: This set includes one pair of black Ringside hand wraps. The cotton-blend fabric is machine washable, making it easy to clean between training sessions, especially after sweaty boxing, MMA, or Muay Thai workouts. For longer life, wash with like colors, use a hand wrap wash bag to help prevent tangling, close the hook-and-loop tab before washing, and air dry or dry on low heat.

What can—and cannot—be concluded

Public information supports a few event-specific figures and a documented example of conflicting contract amounts. It does not support a dependable estimate of what a typical BKFC fighter earns per fight, across a year, or over a career. For any individual figure, the useful questions are who reported it, which event and jurisdiction it concerns, whether it is a purse or another amount, and whether additional compensation is documented.
