The company was described as owned by Dave Allan and Lawson Douglas, who said they wanted to preserve the venue’s role as a local pub while considering how it could evolve.
Who bought the Bayswater Hotel?
PerthNow reporter Jake Dietsch reported that LocalsCo acquired the Bayswater Hotel & Motel that week. The article identified Dave Allan and Lawson Douglas as LocalsCo’s owners. The sale had attracted more than 120 inquiries and multiple bids, according to that report.
Allan said: “We are excited to continue the tradition of this iconic pub and to be its custodians throughout the next era of Bayswater’s growth.”
What did the new owners say they planned to do?
The owners described a balance between retaining the pub’s local significance and refreshing its offering for changing demographics. Douglas said the venue should serve the community and be a meeting place, adding: “There will be things we want to consider but the wishes of the local community will drive every decision we make.”

How did the report frame the acquisition?
The article positioned the hotel between Perth’s CBD and airport and within Development WA’s Metronet East redevelopment zone. At the time, it described plans for an upgraded Bayswater train station, a major precinct and a new town centre. That is the report’s 2021 context, not an update on redevelopment progress.
