“BJT Tugas 1 ESPA4110 Pengantar Ekonomi Makro” refers to a student-uploaded answer booklet for Universitas Terbuka (UT), identified with semester 2021/22.1 (2021.2). It is a historical student copy—not proof of the current assignment and not an official UT answer key. The booklet’s visible topics include basic economic concepts, positive and normative economics, GDP measurement, consumption and saving calculations, and investment.

What this BJT title refers to

The title is associated with a student-uploaded Buku Jawaban Tugas Mata Kuliah for UT’s ESPA4110 course. Its stated semester is 2021/22.1 (2021.2), and it identifies an individual student contributor. The document can help identify what that historical booklet contained, but it should not be presented as an authorized solution or as evidence that UT assigns the same questions today. View the surfaced student-uploaded booklet.

Topics visible in the historical booklet

The uploaded copy includes prompts on several introductory macroeconomics themes. Its wording and question set belong to that student copy; confirm any assignment requirements against the official course materials for your term.

  • Basic economic concepts: The copy asks for an explanation of foundational concepts in economics.
  • Positive and normative economics: It asks students to distinguish descriptions or explanations of economic conditions from value-based judgments or recommendations.
  • GDP measurement: It asks about items described as omitted from GDP. Treat the booklet’s framing as a prompt, not as authoritative guidance on national accounting.
  • Consumption and saving: It includes a table-based exercise involving marginal propensity to consume, saving, and marginal propensity to save.
  • Investment: It asks students to explain factors that influence investment.

How to understand the economics topics

Scarcity, choice, and opportunity cost

Economics studies decisions made when resources are limited relative to wants. Choosing one option means giving up the next-best alternative; the value of that forgone alternative is the opportunity cost. These ideas connect individual decisions to broader questions about production, income, and economic growth.

Positive versus normative statements

A positive statement makes a claim about what is, or what is likely to happen, that can in principle be tested against evidence. A normative statement expresses a judgment about what ought to happen and depends on values as well as facts. For example, a claim about how a tax change affects household spending is positive; saying the tax system should be made fairer is normative. In practice, policy arguments often combine the two, so identify which part is evidence-based and which part expresses a value judgment.

GDP and its limits

Gross domestic product measures the market value of final goods and services produced within a country during a period, using defined national-accounting rules. It is a measure of production, not a complete score of well-being. It does not by itself show how income is distributed, whether unpaid household work is valued, or whether growth improves people’s quality of life. Avoid treating a student booklet’s list of “omissions” as a definitive statement of GDP rules; use the course’s assigned explanation for the task at hand.

MPC, saving, and MPS

For a simple table exercise, compare changes in consumption and saving with the corresponding change in disposable income. The marginal propensity to consume (MPC) is the change in consumption divided by the change in income; the marginal propensity to save (MPS) is the change in saving divided by the change in income. In the standard simplified model, where each additional unit of income is either consumed or saved, MPC + MPS = 1.

For example, if disposable income rises from 1,000 to 1,200 and consumption rises from 800 to 940, then the change in income is 200 and the change in consumption is 140. MPC = 140 ÷ 200 = 0.70. If saving rises by the remaining 60, MPS = 60 ÷ 200 = 0.30. Use the actual figures and units in your assigned table, and calculate changes between the relevant rows rather than dividing a total by income.

Investment

In macroeconomics, investment generally means spending on additions to productive capital, such as equipment, structures, or inventories; it does not simply mean buying a financial asset. Introductory explanations commonly examine how expected returns, financing costs, business expectations, and economic conditions affect investment decisions. Follow the definitions and scope used in the course text when answering a specific prompt.

Which ESPA4110 material is current?

UT’s 2026–2027 curriculum lists ESPA4110 Pengantar Ekonomi Makro Edisi 4 as the course material. UT’s library identifies the fourth edition as a 2022 publication by Sonny Harry B. Harmadi, with print ISBN 978-623-312-351-8 and electronic ISBN 978-623-312-352-5. The library description says the text covers basic economic concepts and national economic problems, individual behavior through economic growth, and a country’s participation in an open economy. It also notes that tutorial assignments and final-exam questions assess learning. Check the UT library listing for ESPA4110, fourth edition and UT’s 2026–2027 curriculum catalog.

For identification, match the course code, edition, publication year, and ISBN rather than relying on a similar title alone. The 2014 repository item titled Pengantar Ekonomi Makro: Konsep Dasar Ilmu Ekonomi is an older section associated with ESPA4110, not the fourth edition. See the repository record for the older 2014 section.

How to use an old student answer booklet responsibly

  • Check the assignment instructions and learning materials provided for your own semester; a 2021/22.1 booklet does not establish current question wording.
  • Use the historical copy to recognize topics, not as an official answer key or a substitute for the course text.
  • Develop your response in your own words and show your calculations, using the figures and definitions in your assigned materials.

UT Aceh has published general guidance that BJT answers should be written in a student’s own words, but that guidance is procedural context and does not verify whether this exact old task remains in use. Read UT Aceh’s general BJT guidance. UT also provides a general preparation document for BJT; consult the materials applicable to your course and term rather than assuming this specific student-uploaded booklet governs them. Open UT’s BJT preparation PDF.
