For the April 2026 offers documented here, ExpressVPN’s Basic plan had a captured official checkout price of $83.72 for 28 months—an effective $2.99 per month—with annual renewal shown at $99.95. NordVPN’s Basic offer was $94.23 for 27 months, renewing at $139.08 per year. Those are historical price signals, not guarantees that the offers remain available: prices and terms can change by country, campaign, and checkout page. Check the final amount and renewal terms before paying.
Not every deal is a typed promo code. ExpressVPN said its offer applied automatically; NordVPN explains how to enter a code but the available evidence does not verify a specific public code. The comparison below separates the documented offers from prices that were not established.
April 2026 VPN offers at a glance
These figures are US-dollar price signals from official pages or the cited deal coverage. They are not a live October 2026 price check. The sources do not establish a single common checkout date in April, and regional taxes, currency, eligibility, and campaign pages can change the amount shown to an individual buyer.

| PrivadoVPN | Secondary deal coverage reported about $1.11/month for two years plus three months; exact total not stated here | Not stated | Renewal price and refund terms not stated in the cited deal coverage | Tom’s Guide deal coverage |
“Not stated” means the cited offer evidence did not establish that detail; it does not mean the provider has no such term. Open the vendor’s own checkout and terms before buying.

How to compare a VPN discount fairly
Use the amount charged today, the full introductory service period, and the renewal amount—not the largest advertised percentage. A monthly equivalent can make a long prepaid subscription look inexpensive while concealing the upfront charge.
Effective monthly cost = total initial charge ÷ total months of service received. For example, $83.72 divided by 28 months is about $2.99 per month for that first term. It does not mean the plan renews at $2.99 monthly: the cited ExpressVPN checkout showed a $99.95 annual renewal.

- Upfront charge: the amount actually billed at checkout, before any tax or currency adjustment shown there.
- Initial term: the number of months covered, including promotional bonus months.
- Renewal: the amount and interval charged after the initial term. Compare annual renewal with the introductory total rather than assuming the promotional rate repeats.
- Plan contents: compare VPN-only service with bundles separately. Extra storage, email, password management, antivirus, or identity tools add value only if you will use them.
Which offer fits which buyer?
For a clearly documented first-term total: ExpressVPN
The captured official Basic checkout gives a concrete comparison: $83.72 for 28 months, followed by $99.95 annual renewal. ExpressVPN says its coupon-page discount is applied automatically, so a typed code is not needed for that offer. Its support page explains that discounted introductory subscriptions renew at the rate shown for the renewal term: subscription and renewal details. The checkout also showed a 30-day money-back guarantee. The displayed price is campaign-sensitive, and another official checkout view showed different introductory pricing.
For a mainstream plan with a disclosed renewal: NordVPN
The captured US pricing view showed Basic at $94.23 for 27 months, including three extra months, then $139.08 per year. NordVPN’s pricing page warns that subscriptions renew automatically at the then-applicable renewal price. The figures make the first-term and renewal comparison possible, but the higher annual renewal matters if you expect to keep the subscription. NordVPN supports coupon entry; its instructions explain the process, not that any particular code works: how to apply a NordVPN coupon code.

For a low reported long-term price: Surfshark, PIA, or PrivadoVPN
April deal coverage put Surfshark below $50 for approximately 28 months. Separate comparisons reported PIA around $1.98/month and PrivadoVPN around $1.11/month on particular long-term offers. These are not directly comparable verified checkout totals: the available figures do not establish identical plans, billing dates, renewal terms, or refund rules. Treat them as leads, then use each provider’s checkout to compare the full charge, service period, and renewal. PIA’s purchase page uses the parameter PRIVATEVPN and states that its savings are calculated against a $11.95 monthly reference price; that baseline is not itself the offer’s monthly charge.
For a privacy-oriented choice and a free fallback: Proton VPN
Proton advertised up to 70% off on its deal page and separately described a spring promotion of up to 65% off the monthly equivalent for a one-year Plus plan. The percentages use a standard monthly price as the comparison baseline, so they should not be ranked directly against providers using a different baseline. Proton says Plus supports up to 10 simultaneous connections and includes access to its free Mail, Drive, Pass, and limited Calendar tiers. Its pricing page says the free VPN plan does not require a credit card. The free tier can suit someone who can accept fewer locations, features, and less flexibility than a paid plan; it is not the same as a paid-plan trial. See Proton VPN deals and Proton VPN pricing.

For a longer refund window: qualifying CyberGhost plans
CyberGhost states that subscriptions of six months or longer have a 45-day money-back period, while one-month plans have 14 days. It says longer-term offers use an introductory price and then renew at the standard rate, with exact renewal terms shown at checkout. That longer refund period is useful only if the plan and purchase channel qualify; it is not a free trial or a reason to skip the renewal check.
Coupon code, automatic deal, or bonus months?
- Typed coupon code: a string entered in a checkout field. NordVPN documents a code-entry process, but the available evidence does not establish a universally valid April 2026 code.
- Automatic discount: a sale applied after following a vendor’s offer page. ExpressVPN explicitly says no voucher or promo code is needed for its coupon-page deal.
- Bonus months: extra service added to a plan. They can lower the effective monthly cost without lowering the amount charged today.
- Plan discount or bundle: reduced pricing may apply to a specific tier, billing duration, or package of additional services. Compare like with like.
- Cashback: a later potential rebate, not an immediate checkout discount. The available community discussion does not establish universal stacking terms. Read the cashback portal’s merchant rules; an outside code, other affiliate link, app-store purchase, ad blocker, refund, or cancellation may affect eligibility or payout.
- Money-back guarantee: a refund policy with qualifying terms and a deadline, not a no-charge trial. A refund request may need to go through support or the billing channel used for purchase.
Check the checkout before you pay
- Open the provider’s official offer or purchase page, rather than an unfamiliar coupon site or a link that asks you to download a coupon tool.
- Select the intended plan and confirm whether the offer is automatic. If a code is required, use only one whose eligibility and final result you can verify at checkout.
- Read the order summary for the total due now, included months, currency, applicable taxes, and the exact renewal amount and interval.
- Check the plan tier and included extras. Do not compare a VPN bundle with a VPN-only subscription as though they were identical.
- Save the receipt and note the renewal date. If you do not want a future automatic charge, use the provider account’s billing or subscription controls to turn off renewal, then confirm the status. Do not assume that deleting an app cancels billing.
For an app-store purchase, check cancellation and refund rules in that store: web offers and web refund terms may not apply in the same way. The cited PIA page, for example, distinguishes its new-subscriber guarantee from purchases through third-party app stores. ExpressVPN’s renewal terms are described at its subscription support page; NordVPN’s renewal warning appears on its pricing page.
Best Value
- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Why a code or advertised price may not work
- The offer expired or applies only to a different plan, customer type, country, or currency.
- The code cannot be combined with the automatic sale already on the page.
- The offer depends on reaching checkout from a specific official campaign page.
- The advertised monthly equivalent is billed as a larger prepaid amount, or checkout adds tax or converts currency.
- The promotion is available on the web but not through an app store, or the app store applies separate billing and refund rules.
If the total differs from the advertised offer, do not complete the purchase until you understand the difference. Reopen the provider’s official offer page, check the selected term and eligibility, and confirm the final order summary. A coupon directory’s claim is not proof that a code is current.
How to choose without overpaying
- Lowest upfront spend: compare the actual total due now, not the monthly equivalent. A lower effective monthly rate can still require more money at once.
- Lowest first-term effective cost: divide the verified total by all months of service, including bonus months; then compare renewal separately.
- Privacy and a free option: consider Proton VPN if its features and free tier match your needs, rather than choosing solely by the advertised discount.
- Longer refund window: check whether a CyberGhost plan of six months or longer qualifies for the stated 45-day period.
- Many devices or extra tools: verify simultaneous-connection limits and whether bundled services are useful to you. Proton states a limit of up to 10 simultaneous connections for Plus; do not infer other providers’ device limits from price coverage.
- Renewal certainty: favor a checkout that shows the next billing amount and interval, and decide whether you want auto-renewal before the charge date.
Discount percentages are weak evidence of value when providers use different reference prices. Proton’s offers use a standard monthly baseline; PIA says its savings use $11.95/month as the comparison price. A large “up to” percentage does not establish the first-term total, plan equivalence, or renewal cost.
