O2 offers Pay Monthly phone bundles and SIM Free handsets bought outright. At the time O2’s shop was checked on 4 October 2026, it advertised up to £740 off a Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus 256GB on selected tariffs, with the offer ending 4 November 2026. That saving is conditional, not a cash price reduction available on every plan.
Which O2 phone deal is best for you?
There is no single best O2 deal for every buyer. A lower monthly payment may mean a larger upfront amount or a longer commitment; a discounted handset may require a tariff that costs more than you need. Compare the same phone and storage capacity across offers, then choose according to your budget, typical data use, preferred contract flexibility and whether you will use any included benefits.
- Choose a Pay Monthly bundle if you want the phone and airtime arranged together and prefer to spread the handset cost over time.
- Consider SIM Free if you want to buy the phone outright without taking an O2 SIM contract. Compare its price with the bundle’s full device cost, then account separately for the SIM plan you would use.
- Prioritise flexibility if you expect your data needs to change. Check the specific tariff’s change rules and benefits before signing.
What O2 phone offers are currently highlighted?
Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus 256GB
O2’s shop landing page, checked on 4 October 2026, promoted a saving of up to £740 on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus 256GB with selected tariffs. The stated offer end date was 4 November 2026. “Up to” and “selected tariffs” matter: the saving is not the phone’s outright price, does not necessarily apply to every buyer and should not be treated as an equivalent cash discount unless the offer terms say so. Confirm the qualifying tariff, stock and final checkout total before committing.
Other highlighted offers
O2’s shop also showed selected-tariff savings on the Google Pixel 11 Pro 256GB, a Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 bundle offer through 13 October 2026, and six months’ airtime on a selected 256GB iPhone 17. These are time-sensitive promotions; check their live terms, eligibility and checkout prices rather than assuming they remain available or apply to other models.

How to compare the full cost of O2 deals
Record the same information for each deal. A headline monthly figure alone does not reveal whether the plan is cheaper over the full commitment.
| What to compare | What to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Handset | Exact model, storage and condition | Different storage tiers or models can have very different prices. |
| Upfront payment | Amount due now, including any deposit | A smaller monthly figure can be offset by more money paid upfront. |
| Device cost | Upfront amount plus device instalments over the term | This isolates handset financing from the cost of service. |
| Airtime | Monthly price, data allowance, calls, texts and included benefits | Helps establish whether you are paying for service you will actually use. |
| Term and end dates | Device Plan and airtime-plan lengths, and when each ends | The two commitments may not end together. |
| Offer conditions | Qualifying tariff, trade-in or customer eligibility, and expiry | A promotion may be unavailable to your circumstances or preferred plan. |
| Price changes and charges | Contractual annual increases and out-of-bundle charges | These affect what you may pay after the initial price period. |
| Flexibility and extras | Tariff-change rules, rollover, roaming and included Extras | Benefits may be conditional or lost if you change tariff. |
For a like-for-like comparison, calculate the upfront payment plus all device instalments and airtime payments over the same period. Apply any price changes that the relevant contract says will take effect during that period. List optional Extras separately, particularly where leaving an eligible plan could turn an included service into a paid subscription.

What happens to O2 prices after you sign up?
O2’s Annual Price Increase page says that from April 2027 airtime rises by £2.50 each April for voice plans, or 75p for data-only and smartwatch plans; the Device Plan payment stays unchanged. O2’s illustration shows a £30 voice airtime plan alongside a £25 Device Plan becoming £32.50 and £25 respectively from April 2027. This is O2’s example, not a quote for an individual customer. O2 also says out-of-bundle charges rise by 5% each 1 April. Check the terms for the particular deal, since the customer’s contract governs what applies.
For a multi-year comparison, include each applicable airtime increase in the months it falls within the period being compared. Do not assume the device instalment rises with airtime, or that an advertised promotion removes future contractual increases.

How O2 Pay Monthly and Refresh plans work
O2 describes Pay Monthly as a phone combined with minutes, texts and data, and says a credit check is required. Its FAQ says the minimum upfront amount varies by device and that many newer devices have a £30 minimum upfront cost. O2 also provides a phone comparison tool that can compare up to four devices; use it to narrow handset choices, then check the complete plan terms.
Separate handset and airtime costs
For custom O2 Refresh plans starting on or after 17 December 2021, O2 says the Airtime and Device Plans separate after 24 months. During the first 24 months, ending airtime requires paying the outstanding Device Plan balance, with no Early Termination Charge. After 24 months, a customer can keep both plans, cancel airtime while continuing device payments, or cancel both and pay off the remaining device balance. Once the Device Plan is fully paid, the handset belongs to the customer. Older plans may have different linked-plan terms; check the agreement or My O2 rather than assuming these rules apply.

Changing your tariff
O2 says eligible Refresh tariffs bought on or after 22 March 2018 are flexible. For a new handset, customers can move between the tariffs available for that purchase after the initial 30 days, once per billing month. A downgrade can remove eligibility for benefits such as the Yearly Upgrade Programme, Free Screen Replacement or Loss and Theft Cover. O2 says Plus and Ultimate plans have data rollover, subject to the selected plan’s conditions.
O2 says SIM Only flexibility is available to new and upgrading customers from 2 July 2026. Check the plan’s current terms to see which tariffs are available to you and what changing plans would affect.

When is SIM Free better than a phone bundle?
Compare the SIM Free handset’s outright cost with the total device payments in the O2 bundle, including any upfront payment. Then compare the airtime you would buy separately with the bundle’s airtime cost over the same period. A bundle may suit you if its selected tariff and any genuine benefits are worth the added commitment; buying SIM Free may make more sense if you prefer to choose service separately or avoid a bundled tariff. The right answer depends on the actual prices and terms at checkout, not the size of a promotion headline.
Before you place an order
- Confirm the exact handset model and storage, and whether the offer applies to it.
- Check the upfront amount, device instalment, airtime price, data allowance and both plan lengths.
- Read the offer conditions, including tariff eligibility and end date; verify the checkout total.
- Estimate the total over the period you expect to keep the deal, including contractual airtime increases and any out-of-bundle charges you may incur.
- Check the rules for changing or ending airtime, what happens to the Device Plan, and whether a downgrade affects included benefits.
O2’s offer terms and prices can change. The cited handset promotion and price details above reflect O2 pages checked on 4 October 2026; verify live availability and the contract wording when you buy.
