L’Oréal Paris’s strongest drugstore dupe picks span glow makeup, bond-care hair treatment, night cream and an at-home color gloss. They can offer a more accessible way to try a similar product role or finish, but “dupe” does not mean identical formula, wear or results. Here’s what each option does—and what to check before buying.
What counts as a beauty dupe?
L’Oréal Paris defines a dupe as a product similar to a popular, often luxury, counterpart that is usually cheaper and more accessible. That is a useful starting point, not proof of equivalence: a similar routine step or finish does not establish matching ingredients, performance or results. L’Oréal’s April 24, 2023 roundup is brand-authored editorial, not an independent comparative trial. Read L’Oréal Paris’s dupe roundup.
L’Oréal Paris dupes to consider
True Match Lumi Glotion: a glow primer or liquid highlighter
L’Oréal positions True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer as a glow primer that can also be used as a liquid highlighter. That makes it an option if you want a luminous finish without buying a separate product for each role. The brand’s dupe article does not name the luxury product it is meant to resemble, so it is more accurate to compare the intended effect than to claim a specific one-to-one match. Its roundup listed four shades in 2023; check the current product listing for today’s shade range and price.
EverPure Bond Strengthening Pre-Shampoo Treatment: a pre-wash bond-care step
This treatment is applied to damp hair before shampooing, left on for five to 10 minutes, then rinsed out. L’Oréal describes it as containing a 14 percent Bonding Care Complex and presents it as a less expensive alternative in the bond-care category. Those figures and directions are brand-published claims and instructions, not independent efficacy findings. The article does not name the premium product it compares with; shared purpose does not establish the same chemistry or results.
#1 Best Overall
Age Perfect Cell Renewal Midnight Cream: a rich moisturizer for night
L’Oréal describes Age Perfect Cell Renewal Midnight Cream as a rich night moisturizer. The brand also says it can be worn in the morning before SPF and makeup. Its dupe roundup does not identify a particular prestige counterpart, so judge it by whether its texture and routine role suit you rather than assuming it replicates a named cream.
Le Color Gloss: an at-home hair-color refresh
Le Color Gloss One Step In-Shower Toning Gloss is positioned as an at-home salon alternative for refreshing dull color. L’Oréal’s April 2023 article listed a clear option and 16 tinted shades. Those counts are dated, so check the current range and directions before choosing. A gloss’s result can depend on your starting hair color and the shade selected; the brand’s comparison does not establish that it will produce a salon-identical result.

Glow Paradise Balm-in-Lipstick: an editorially suggested lip comparison
Who What Wear published a beauty editor’s opinion comparing L’Oréal Glow Paradise Balm-in-Lipstick with Dior Addict Lip Glow. That is an editorial recommendation, not an official L’Oréal comparison or a controlled performance result. Availability and prices may vary. See Who What Wear’s drugstore lipstick article.
How to choose a drugstore foundation
There is no single best drugstore foundation for everyone. L’Oréal’s foundation guide recommends weighing skin type and concerns, desired coverage and finish, shade range and undertone match. Its True Match Super-Blendable Foundation entry describes medium coverage and a 47-shade range, with up to six pigments per shade. Those are figures from the brand’s guide, which is undated; check the current product page and shade finder for the live range and available shades. Read L’Oréal Paris’s drugstore foundation guide.

Rank #3
- Start with coverage: Decide whether you want medium coverage or a lighter or fuller look.
- Consider finish and skin needs: A finish that looks comfortable on one skin type may not suit another.
- Check undertone as well as shade depth: A broad shade count does not guarantee a match for every person.
- Test the current shade selection where possible: Ranges and availability can change, and product pages or in-store testers are more useful than relying on a historical count.
Compare role and price, not just the word “dupe”
For makeup, haircare and skincare alike, compare the product’s intended role, application, texture or finish, and current options. Then compare the price for the amount you actually get. Prices, shade ranges and availability vary by market and retailer, so the dated brand roundup is not a current price list. L’Oréal’s US material reflects the US market; check local packaging and instructions if buying elsewhere.
Do not treat shared corporate ownership or overlapping ingredients as evidence that two products have the same formula. An independent comparison makes that distinction explicitly. Read Insider Beauty’s L’Oréal Paris review.
