When Advanced may be worth comparing
Asana describes portfolios as high-level collections of projects that let teams monitor progress and health. Its portfolio page lists portfolios in Advanced, Enterprise, and Enterprise+, while its Goals & Reporting information places Goals on Advanced and higher and Reporting from Starter. If you need cross-project visibility, goals, or resource planning, compare those needs against the higher per-seat price rather than upgrading solely for a feature name. Is Asana easy to use?

Before choosing a plan, run a small pilot with representative users and real work. Check whether people can complete these tasks without extra coaching or workarounds:
- Find the right project and understand its status.
- Create and assign a task, set a due date, and locate it again.
- Manage recurring work and, if needed, use a form for incoming requests.
- Understand who can see or edit work, including external guests.
- Build a useful report and, if relevant, track work across projects.
Include both frequent users and people who will update tasks occasionally: a system that feels clear to project leads may still create friction for less frequent contributors.
